Entertainingly, rotating the upper body first is the same advice my taekwondo master gave me for doing turning kicks. It never clicked for me to apply it in this same manner too. I'm definitely going to mindfully try this out as I practice!

I am your online student - but these tidbits that you share every so often - we need to keep hearing them - because somehow I still tend to forget about "that" arm. Thank you for this reminder!

Yes that pesky arm that you cannot see and which usually misbehaves…. Reminders are always useful aren’t they. Glad this helped. Keep going with your online course. I’m with you in spirit. Practice as if I’m watching 😊

No leído mentes, pero he visto millares de personas hacer la misma cosa. Somos muy parecidos en patines. Los cuerpos siguen el mismo proceso en las técnicas de patinaje. Sinto feliz que te ha ayudado.

Like I said, this is a very, very common mistake and most people don't realise that's the issue (until they see it or have it explained). Spend some time doing those static exercises with the trailing arm and then put it into action slowly. I'm sure it's gonna work for you. Let us know!

Lack of accuracy leads to mistakes, wobbles, maybe falls. So I'm all about the accuracy.

Torso 1st then the legs.. 👍👍👍
@SkatefreshVideos Жыл бұрын
Yes that’s right. However the legs/skates need to be doing the correct thing (for whichever skill) so that the torso then “creates” the momentum of the move.

what hardness of wheels do you use for indoor and outdoor skating? My 86A wheels have finally worn out and I'm debating on just staying on the same hardness or switching. Awesome vid btw!
@SkatefreshVideos11 ай бұрын
Hi. This is Sergio from Skatefresh Team. Asha uses 86A. Diameter, hardness, profile, quantity, etc. depends on the skater, what he/she does on wheels and the surface they usually use. Besides, what you feel indoors is different from what you feel outdoors. So I suggest that you choose what feels better for YOU in particular.

I'm just about to start with a transition from back to front vice versa as my backwards skating getting more stable, BUT, I'm not sure what transition is best for me or more comfortable to start with ie step/step, heel and toe swivel or jumping twist. At home on carpet I'm ok on all three, but I know when I try to do it on tarmac I'm going poop myself with fear. Any suggestions?
@SkatefreshVideos11 ай бұрын
Hi. This is Sergio from Skatefresh Team. Fear appears when you have to face something unknown all of a sudden. It's not just previous practice on the carpet or grass, you also need to practice the transition statically on tarmac, meaning NOT rolling at all. It may sound boring but it's absolutely necessary. Only once you feel confident doing it that way you will be able to do it rolling at a slow speed. In time, you can add more speed bit by bit. That's the way to overcome fear: getting used to stuff progressively. Which transition is better depends on the skater and the speed. However, most people have a real problem with the backward to forward mohawk. This is because they don't want to use their arms, yeah, believe it or not arms have an important role in skating, they are not just for show. So if you ask me I would say the heel-heel pivot transition may be easier for you.

@@SkatefreshVideos thank you very much. I will commence with your suggestions and see how it goes. I know I will combat the fear issue as had this at the very start of learning. However, when you're an older person I think your body tends to make you be more precautios.
