My mechanic says that CX-5 diesel does not have a low pressure fuel pump (if you find it please send me the part code :)) so turning ignition on/off (without starting) will not help with filling the filter with fuel. I can confirm that CX5 diesel does not produce that sound (pump) that you typically hear at other cars when setting ignition on (but not start the engine).

@@vedranv5897 had the same issue with Mazda Cx5 x5 diesel 2.2l engine. Replaced the fuel filter and put everything back and ignition on and the car won't start. Possibly new to bleed the air in the fuel line or could be the faulty fuel pump. Let's see.

U have to bleed the system by the bleeder on the top of the engine, by vacuum pump. Otherwise engine wont start

This is applicable for some Toyota's as well. My Yaris has the same "format", it's just the position inside the engine bay that differs. Removing the old filter from that upper assembly was a pain in the a**.

Stronly recomend to full field the filter. Next time I will buy an extra 1L to add before pluging up. Aynway, If you are reading because you didn't... hahaha! Turn on/off the contact, at least 20 times, before starting the engine. If you didn't, no problem, in the end it will start but it takes time I had to try to start the engine several times before it worked.

lol here happened to me, it happened because I was bleeding the fuel filter for water located under there in front of the rear left wheel, (Mazda 2 Demio DJ 1.5 Diesel ) but water didnt come out so I mistakenly removed the whole plug and diesel fuel came out, like a small quantity but enough to prevent the engine starting again. What I did, cycle the key to the on position without starting the engine, like 30 times no joke, and then crank the engine for short 3 seconds cycles until it started, it took like 20 tries,,,, no joke my battery is kinda good and new so it did it but a low battery is a no go. Thanks.

remplir le filtre à gazoil manuellement et le mettre en place en evitant de laisser couler le gazoil vous eviterez ainsi trop de démarrage

1.5 skyactiv, on the CX-3, has the diesel fuel filter next to the rear left wheel, it's different in size from the one in the video above

Bullshit you don't need to remove the filter housing at all just remove the lower cable and screw off the filter. Never start with empty filter takes lots off time to fill and creating air

Sadly it will start in gasoline😉. Would rather have it NOT starting on gasoline.

WRONG, mechanic expert?? Very good in every instruction except the ONE most important. He states "you can install it empty.." really?? No fuel = air pockets = NO start!!! Genius, what he does not tell you that you a) have to manually prime OR uninstall and fill filter with fuel then install AGAIN!! Maybe there is a difference with manual, IDK, but my automatic does not start. The genius at the parts shop forgot to mention it as well. Yet, the FIRST things on google that come up when searching for the issue are 'air pocket' problems........it will not start so "starts easier with fuel in the pump....." 😂😂 why dont you say that it wont start without and you will have to uninstall and reinstall all over again. Biggest issue, yet expert forgets to mention it. FUBAR

For the record, your issue is quite common after any sort of fuel work. All you should have to do is cycle the key a few times allowing the pump to run in between each time.
