Some aircraft have textures inside the folder which end '_L' so for example if 'B737_Side_T' is the actual texture then there will be a file called 'B737_Side_L' in which you can put lights on, so if the tail is dark then you can put some yellowish white on the tail in '_L' and the tail at night will be brighter. Hope that helps.

Do you know how to change a 256 color to dds and have FSX see it ? Or how do I upgrade a FS 2004 paint job to have a more realistic look in FSX. For example I found a real cool Martin P4M-1 Mercator but it looks really cheesy it is flat. I already have DXTBMP and have done several repaints there is on base texture to go from.

Great video. My problem has been in lining stripes up between the various parts. Is there a way to "assemble" the aircraft temporarily so that whatever trim/stripe you paint is lined up??

I usually use the paintkits that come with the aircraft, but most of the time if you google it you can find one

sorry for late reply was on holiday. paint(dot)net saves it in a temporary file, you just have to go to dxtbmp and reload after edit and it will find the file (should be called norm(dot)bmp i think). Just let it save what ever name it wants, dont change it when saving. hope that helps Dan.

Thanks, I normally just use visual points such as where 2 lines on the fusalage join or count how many windows.

What about how the textures show up on the night textures? I have notice planes not have good colors when flying at night. the tail does not light up or things like that. Thanks

@jansen090 - Thanks, I assume this is a layered paintkit, in photoshop or whatever other program you use there should be a layer called 'lines or guide' something like that. Unticking that will remove them. Dan.

@NeverEatTheUniverse - mostly 24bit but some FSX aircraft are in DDS format so just look before you open it to see what the original format is.

hey, got 1 question. when you have finished painting 1 side of the aircraft can you copy and rotate it (as necessary) to produce the other side ? So it will look EXACTLY the same on both sides? Cos if i do the first side and then the other side by hand it might not be exactly like the the first side. some paintings might be off a bit. i hope you know what i mean .

Hi all, im having a problem with Reflections, when i save my painting and reload it into FS2004 it looks like it is covered with a coating of Silver crome. With the Painting visible underneath. ANyone know what im doing wrong, and how to fix it??

sounds like you need to turn down the sensetivity a bit (the bar at the top goes from 0% to 100%) also hold down control (ctrl) to select muliple parts (sorry for late reply aswell :()
