I really like how you were able to make the prints appear to have so much depth using the stain/other dark paint(?). The colors finished that layered effect. It is such a simple process yet looks like it took hours. I love this & am going to go see part 2 now. Thanks for sharing your technique. You have definitely inspired me!

After testing a bunch of different finishes, I think the Mod Podge *Satin* Finish (Orange Label) is best for a flat, non glossy finish.

The Mod Podge that I get is always white. I had some for a very long time, years and it turned yellow. So I am guessing if it is yellow then that means it is very old. I through out the Mod Podge by Plaid out and I bought new :D

+Tania Smith Ohh Im glad this helped. I also just made a video today about how to use the different things, so go check that out! I didnt go over mod podge though and that is just a glue meant to be used on gluing paper down. You can make your own version by taking white PVA glue (elmers glue) and mixing it 2 parts glue to 1 part water :)

gesso is a product used to prime your surface. Acrylic artists use it to prime their canvases so the paint will adhere better to it. But in mixed media, we also use it as a primer... not just on canvases, but journal pages and etc... it make the surface go from very porous to less porous so that your surface doesnt warp when using other water based products and also makes the surface more sturdy and gives it tooth or a gritty texture for when using pastels, pencils, etc, they will show up better because of the rougher surface gesso gives.

Love this... Question for you...Have you tried this ?? Soy Sauce Stain for antique look on paper ? I seen a tv show a while back and the ladies used Soy Sauce packets she got from a Chinese place and painted over vintage sewing patterns onto an old sewing table. The soy sauce gave it such an amazing antique color tone it was just so pretty looking. Not sure if you have tried this or not but if not it's worth a shot. She dumped it onto a pie tin and then used a brush to stain it onto the patterns. I might have to try it. I have tons of soy sauce packets. Just had forgotten about it until now :D

+Pink Poodle Crafts I believe she diluted it some with water. Not sure if it was wiped off or not. She might have just painted it on and let it soak in. I have been trying to remember where I seen it from it was last summer. But was an interesting idea to make paper items look old and worn. I'll try and remember where I seen it and let you know if I can figure it out :)

yeah it sounds awesome... i bet we can look it up and find out how to apply it!
@PinkPoodleCrafts
@PinkPoodleCrafts 8 жыл бұрын
ok so from what i found online, you just dilute it in water and use it like you would coffee or tea, soak the paper in it and then either let it dry or use the oven for a more darker effect. :)

Here is a link to a white craft mat and it looks like it could be the same one.... I have a very large one like this which is a bit pricy but I feel its worth it to have a nice big work area but if you didnt want to spend so much there is a smaller one for much cheaper. blitsy.com/products/ken-oliver-extra-large-best-ever-craft-mat-360670
