Can I use a different font for the letters and subtitle, or do I have to use the one font? Also, I have Vegas Pro, but not After Effects, Is it possible to do in Vegas?

TAB is the button on your keyboard just above Caps Lock. Basically there are two text layers. In the long one, you need to put a space where the single letter is.

Sure. It does take more than an hours. If you abort, you'll have to set the start frame at the number of your last png frame in the folder with the pngs. (Say the last one is called 0180.png then set the start frame in blender to 180 when you continue rendering)

Ballyweg Please help! When I open"Pixar.aep" in AE, it shows"file'LAMPTrackMatte.mov'cannot be imported-this '.mov'file is damaged or unsupported". I downloaded the zip file again, the result was the same. What should I do?? I did installed QuickTime.

I have a solution, change the file format LAMPTrackMatte.mov and PIXAREMPTY.mov to AVI format using format factory. ~RIP english ;)

Oui. C'est probablement une erreur dans un des fichiers .png que Blender a produit. Essais de trouver le fichier qui produit l'erreur. Ouvre la composition "Title" et bouge le temps jusqu'à ce que l'erreur se produit.

The first message is normal. It converts automatically. To fix the second one, make sure you have QuickTime installed and have unzipped the files.

Are you sure you remember to delete the letter from the background title before? You can try scrubbing through the timeline in blender to check.

Are you sure you replaced the letter with a space in the long title?

The lamp will always jump at the same position, however you can move your name around as much as you want, including changing the space between letters etc.

That mostly happens, if you're using the After Effects CS4 trial, which doesn't have the Keylight plugin. You should use the full version or use the CS5+ trials.

Try installing QuickTime. The LampMatte uses an QuickTime proprietary codec "Animation" with alpha channel.

PhoebeBebe That is mostly caused by either using an unactivated version of AE or a trial version of AE, since those do not include Keylight. The trial version of CS6 and CC include it, I believe.

Sadly, the trial for After Effects CS4 does not come with the standard Keylight plugin, which is used to remove the green background. You will have to use the full version or find a 64bit computer to install a trial of CS5+.

This one is the "original" one, they show in the beginning of most Pixar movies. There is also another version where the lamp jumps in the end.

Lag can have several reasons: 1. The file is too big (check file size, and compress using my tutorial for compressing) 2. Your PC is too slow. 3. Bad software, use VLC. 4. Wrong framerate (use my settings)

You must have forgotten to delete it from the long title. You have to delete the letter from the long title and replace it with a space.

Yes it does. In fact everything should be the same, with the exception of the right click, which will be a two finger click or Ctrl+Click for you.

One minor thing though was the letter the lamp crushes is an S for me and for some reason its rendering the bottom edge on that letter only, how do I fix that? (Its the portion that sticks out below the green and moving it up throws off the animation but it only doesn't this for the letter under the lamp)

You need to match your title in blender. The one single letter is the one getting stoomped and that should not be moved.

If you have the full version there should be a H.264 option somewhere, but yes, you can always you .avi or anything else really and recode it afterwards using other software like XMedia Recode.

Your tutorials are excellent and to the point. One thing you forgot to mention, which I figured out is that in order to delete the right side letters you have to click on the arrow key on your keyboard, other than that this tutorial is awesome! :)

This does work with CS4, you just need to use the big blue link button which says "DOWNLOAD from ballyweg". For the Pixar text, just resize it like I do in the tutorial.

On my website it says CS4+. But there are special alternative templates for those who have CS5.5+. So if you have CS4 or CS5, take CS4+ (the big blue download link). If you have CS5.5 or CS6, take the CS5.5+.

It takes some time to render, yes. But you can pause it at any time (by using the pause key on your keyboard and enter for resume). Run it when you don't use your computer.
