Crushed walnut stuffing: stitchinpost.c...
Please note we've had a few messages questioning if walnut shells hold moisture and promote rust - it doesn't for us. Jean's been using them for decades. Keep in mind though we live in a high desert climate so moisture is not the problem here it can be in other areas. You'll have to experiment in your own climate.

LOL, so any clue what the actual name of it is? I'd hate to see what I'd come up with if I were to put "purple thing" into my search engine! 😂

Why the walnut shell? Does it help sharpen the needles?

I was thinking that too. Does it help sharpen needle? Did you crush the shell yourself?

@@pemachoden5624 I know it's been awhile but yes, it is supposed to help sharpen the needles. You can also use Emery Sand.

Usually you can find the crushed walnut shells as animal bedding in pet shops, or if you need a finer grit I believe they also use it for rock tumbling and some kinds of sand blasting.

I would think that would work, but if it gets wet it might soften and rot. Not sure though. I'm going with the walnut shells.

May I say that polysilicon is great...walnut shells bad bad bad!! It obsorbs moisture very badly and rapidly causing your pins to rust right into cushion....not good walnut shells are used for pet litter

Thanks for the tip. Jean's been using walnut shells for years without a problem, but we do live in a desert.
