I highly appreciate that rasping for a finished egde. Respect.

Good morning Doc... Could you possibly send me the links for the spacers, G-tape, and your favorite fastening system?

Although you do not like mitered corners, do you believe there is a reliable method to join them that will last indefinitely, or does the expansion/contraction of the synthetic deck material simply make it impossible for the joint to stay closed, as is the case with wood, due to wood's cellular structure? We have tried joining synthetics with plastic biscuits and glue, but insufficient time has passed to judge whether the joints will open or not. I also wonder whether mechanical fastenings, such as Clamex or double-ended Hafele mini-fix could ensure a permanently tight joint. Thanks.

I'm building a deck using timbertech azek vintage. I plan on putting my deckinging on a 45 degree angle. What would you recommend my joist spacing to be. My plan was to make it 12 inches, but I watched another video where the guy said do it 8.5". I'm sure you've built decks like this so I'm curious to hear your opinion. Love your videos. Thanks.

For a picture framed border with slightly twisted framing underneath that makes the board rock, what do I do to overcome that?

Framing should be 16" or 12" x compose deck?

A dry erase board to show details on the subject your covering? Might be good for us new to this.

Dr Decks what is your favorite deck builder forum?

Wait ... I'm confused. Did he flip the board over? AZEK Vintage is only textured on one side. I don't get it.

I think he flipped it end for end.

I see that drdecks doesn't comment back to answer questions which is sad as many questions are spot on and need to be clarified. Attaching the border is fine, but the main decking doesn't have any consistent framework to attach to and support those ends. I guess you have to install another joist.
@bash65196 ай бұрын
im wondering what would be an allowable overhand for the main decking,. There has to be another joist there for it to break on or at least overhang an inch or so

Two comments: * Borders not Boarders ;) -- unless you have boarders living on the borders 😀 * What you did NOT show is how you supported the ends of the main decking that butts against the surface border. Are those 3 inch blocks, or does the main deck cantilever past the last joist? And by how much? (I see Azek recommends no more than 1/2" cantilever. My existing decking? They say don't do it, period.)

Surface borders?
@KeithWhittingham3 жыл бұрын
I assume that a surface border is a change of board color or form to create different areas on the deck, or just surround the whole deck

Do you ever show us what the framing looks like before you start Laing these boarders? So far I’ve never seen you do it.

I prefer butt joints over miters, but some customers don't approve. Miters are a pain. No matter how tight you make them, once they shrink in the winter, they never grow back to where you set them. Don't know why
@CMCraftsman7 ай бұрын
You need to pocket screw them from below and use 2P10 glue. I’ve never had a miter open up.

Bro, are you kidding me. This was not a tutorial on surface boarders. Seems like the handful of vids of yours I watched were after thoughts and you do way more explaining than your actually showing. No like or subscribe for you
