You make this look so simple! I'm still learning and it takes me twice as long to do what you just did. I really appreciate all the scan n cut info you give us. Thanks!!

I wasn't that fast when I started, believe me! But the time you take now to learn this process will pay off in spades for every applique quilt you'll ever do from now on. Have fun!

Sure do wish that I found Becky years ago before I got rid of my ScanNCut. Her tutorials for it are so good. Guess I need to start looking for a dealer near me to purchase a new one.

Yep, time to buy a new one!

So glad you’re teaching this. I have Lori Holt’s “Granny’s Garden” quilt kit. I’ve been putting off making it til I learned how to digitize the pieces. Thanks so much.

How do you know when to use heat n bond light fabric up and heat n bond down paper off or when to use it mirrored with paper on and paper up? I only use it for appliqué and cotton fabric. Thanks! Love your videos!
@PowerToolsWithThread2 жыл бұрын
That depends on the mat that you are using. Don't put paper down on the purple standard tack or gold fabric mat. They are too sticky.
@tammysanders37882 жыл бұрын
Great video!! I am wondering if you could place the fabric right side down on the mat and achieve mirroring without having to flip in canvas?
@PowerToolsWithThread2 жыл бұрын
You certainly can. But to me, it's easier to flip them in Canvas and just put fabric side up on all pieces on the low tack mat.

Do you worry about the seam allowances on the appliqué pieces? Doesn’t Lori sew her interface to the pieces right sides together and turn? Are those seam allowances on the templates?
@PowerToolsWithThread2 жыл бұрын
Lori's sew line is the traced line. She trims the seam allowances larger than the sew line. So the piece as traced is the same sice as the piece as cut.

When I pull my scanned templates up in canvas the size isn't the same as the size provided in the sewing guide. I noticed, your baby chick/wing aren't either. So...we don't need to resize them to be the specified size?
@PowerToolsWithThread2 жыл бұрын
I just checked and my cut pieces are the exact same size as the chicken simple shape template. There is no difference. The size in the sewing guide is the size of the square of material you need to make that shape.

@@PowerToolsWithThread thanks so much for clarifying! That was super confusing.

You occasionally say "I'm going to link down below" to whatever. For example, on this video, you said that you were going to link how to connect your Scan n Cut and your Brother Canvas. I can't seem to find the links. What am I missing? Thank you for all the work that you do!
@stephiepeterson2 жыл бұрын
On my iPad there is a little downward carrot (^ like that but pointing down) to the right of the video title. When I touch it, the links and other extra information appear. Do you see something like that?
@PowerToolsWithThread2 жыл бұрын
The link is above there at the top of the screen. I'll add it to the description box too.

Question what do you do when you scan in your image and there's alot of noise around it? Do you ignore it or just go ahead and cut hoping it wont cut alot of small unwanted pieces.
@PowerToolsWithThread2 жыл бұрын
When I clean it up in Canvas by moving what I want to keep off the mat and then deleting all the leftover noise on the mat, then putting the object back on the mat, I don't get any stray cuts on the fabric.

I asked this on the previous video, but just in case you didn't see that question, Imma gonna be a pain and ask it again here: My max hoop size is 5X7" and/or 5X12" for a split design. Now, once you start putting all the chicken parts together in Simply Applique and add your stitching, do you think it will fit into a 5X7 or 5X12 hoop?🤔 I'm crossing my fingers it will fit! 🤞Or, is there some kind of work-around I might try? I would really like to make this because I have the scan 'n cut, simply applique, but just not the larger hoop size machine. . . .🙏
@PowerToolsWithThread2 жыл бұрын
No. Unfortunately these chickens need at least a 10.5" hoop.
@PowerToolsWithThread2 жыл бұрын
You'll have to sew them with your sewing machine.

@@PowerToolsWithThread I figured. . . oh well 🤷♀ Thank you for replying! Well, I'll just have to buy a new machine, won't I?!!! LOL 😂

Why do you use copy/paste, instead of duplicate and tell it to make the number of duplicates you want?
@PowerToolsWithThread2 жыл бұрын
Two reasons: Duplicate doesn't give me the option to state the number of duplicates I want - it just automatically give me one (which is easier I guess). AND>>> I'm old and I've always done it this way. :)
