Becky, this is amazing. I have learned so much watching your videos. Thank you for all the work, you explain everything in great detail and that is a huge help. Now I need to order the Simply applique. I did download the trial, but unfortunately you can't save anything, it does let you play around so that is great. I managed to trace and get all my chicken pieces into the scan N Cut and into the workspace. Now I need to create the .fcm files. You are the best, Thank you!!!

Ok, I’m praying I can figure this all out. I got the scan n cut and simply appliqué. I’ve downloaded the canvas workbook or whatever. That’s as far as I’ve gotten. I’m excited!!!

I have the Scan and Cut and just ordered the Simple Applique. Waiting on it to be shipped. I have Bernina software and it will work but not as easy. Thank you so much for all you do!!

I also have a Bernina and I have Bernina software along with Embrilliance. I’m hoping to get this figured out and a way to do it all. I’m not real good with electronics but I’m learning!

@@kimmyers7848 You can get it done in Bernina software using the applique but a lot more steps. So I ordered Simply Applique and I think it will be easier!!!

Yes I have the Simple Appliqué also for it just looked much easier then the Bernina software. I know that Embrilliance software has been much easier then Bernina that’s for sure

Do you have a video where you use Embrilliance Stitch Artists II.(found one!) I have Stitch Artists I and planned to upgrade, or do you prefer Simply Applique? I have been working myself to death trying to find a way to do this without the software upgrade. I unable to get the correct sizes so I think I have to use the vector files.

Yes! My most recent video shows making the Morning Glory blocks for Calico Garden using Stitch Artist 2. Once you see it, you'll love it. So incredibly simple. Simply Applique is an OK software for the very basic user. It has a couple of bugs that don't create the blanket stitch at times, but I've never had that with Stitch Artist 2. Becky, I do not have a ScanNCut but do have the PR1050. I also have the BES4 Dream Edition. Can I scan these on my 1050 & build the applique in My Design Center? Thanks so much for all of your time spent teaching us how to do these things!

I bet you could come very close, but I don't think the hoop is large enough to accommodate the chicken. That's why I have to stitch these out on the Luminaire.

Hi Becky! I am recovering from a surgery and your videos have been great to keep my mind occupied. I have a Bernina 880+ the jumbo hoop is 15-3/4” by 10-1/4” will this fit? I hope so because I already bought the kit! 😊 Also, can Embrillance be used in place of Simply Applique? I own Embrillance but haven’t used it much. Lori has you cut the pattern 1/4 inch larger all the way around to accommodate the needle turn.

If you don’t have a scan and cut is there a way to scan a design on a printer/scanner and then digitize a design (I’m not sure which software I would use) to make a appliqué design

Sorry my fat finger downloaded before I was done. I have a Bernina 700 and a 770. How would I take a design and make a applique design?

I don't think the machine type matters if your machine doesn't have the ability to scan a design like the Brother Luminaire or the Baby Lock Solaris. However, I'm unfamiliar with Bernina machines.

You need to create an svg file and then upload it to the free Brother Canvas (canvasworkspace.brother.com). You can take a pic with your phone of the traced image, get that picture to your computer and then use either Inkscape or Gimp (both are free) to create the svg. Canvas will convert the uploaded svg to an fcm file, and then you can download that fcm into Simply Applique. Simply Applique will save to the format for your Bernina machine. I do not do videos on how to use Inkscape or Gimp - but there are plenty of how-to's on KZbin for them. Personally, I'd just break down and get a Brother ScanNCut! For a smaller budget, the SDX 85 will work perfect for this function. amzn.to/3v8Tcq4

I don't think there are other fonts for Simply Applique. Try enlarging the view by scrolling your mouse button to move the eye in increments and see if that isn't a little easier.

Great video! Don't you want to remove overlap? You wouldn't want all of the intersecting lines and as it is now, isn't the blanket stitch under the applique as well?

Simply Applique will do that but not very well. I really only worry about it if I'm doing a satin stitch. Otherwise, I leave it be.

I have the Babylock Solaris and it came with Palette 11. Babylock is made by Brother. So I asked my dealer as they sell Brother also, but they did not seem to know. Is BES4 the same as Pallette 11?

So to clarify and answer your question... As far as I know: Baby Lock and Brother are two separate companies that share a common technology, parts, etc. One is not 'made' by the other to my knowledge (I think - I could be wrong). But no, Pallette 11 is not like BES4 except that they both can only be used on a PC and not a Mac. I can't find anywhere in the user guide of P11 where you can import an fcm file from the SNC. I can't find anywhere in the user guide who makes the software either. BES4 is made by Pacesetter for Brother and that's displayed prominently on the box and user manual for BES4. The screens don't resemble each other at all.

I thought since they operate the same, that the software might also. My Home Screen looks a lot like the one you show. So I’m going to play with it using your demo as a model. I’ll let you know. I was told that I can import using the software. But have not tried it yet. 🤞❤️

I don’t have a Luminaire. The largest hoop on my Dream Machine is 9.5x11.Will it fit my hoop? If not, what to do?

No, it won't fit in your maximum hoop. The solution is to go ahead and fully build the chicken & chick in the software and get everything lined up. Then, in the Sequence View, highlight the body, wing, and waddle and hit Delete. Now the design is small enough for your hoop and you can use your sewing machine to sew on those other pieces after you've run the embroidery portion. Not ideal I know, but it's still quicker than the alternative.

@@PowerToolsWithThread darn it! I wish I had known this before I purchased the kit and started the project. Did I miss a message about this? This has really deflated me :( It was a lot of work to scan and cut everything. I may as well just do everything on the sewing machine.

@@cabushka100 Yeah, the chicken body itself stitches out larger than your largest hoop. I didn't make a point of saying this in my video because I didn't realize it either until I put it all together in Simply Applique. Still the amount of time you will save doing the partial embroidery portion vs. stitching it all down by machine will be tremendous...including cutting out all of the pieces. I don't think all of the blocks will be too big but I haven't laid them out yet to know. It might be a small consolation but you'll be sharpening your skills too for other projects that will fit in your hoop. I've done this partial method before too when I didn't have the XP2. This partial stitching method will also grow you skills for projects that require multiple hoopings like a tall skinny wall hanging.
