Cool tutorial i have underestand everything here, you point me here from your cloth tutorial, but what happens when the parent mesh is rigged ?. i mean i have a character and some bones that control stuf outside the main bones but when those bones touch the cape the cape collide with theme.. so how can I make the cape to skip collision with bones or wy the heck is my cape colliding with bones ??????

Thank YOU for watching! If you'd like to animate a cape, this video won't help at all :D You'd have to actually rig it, so you can manipulate it how you'd like! Shift A > (then add a bone)... hit tab to go into edit mode, then hit E to extrude the bone until you reach the length of the cape. Tab out of edit mode, the select the cape, hold shift and select the bones. Hit Ctrl-P and parent with automatic weights. its a very good video but what if i want to hide the cape under cloth? for an example the character that i have right now is wearing an apron under his shirt. like the one that waiter wear, because when i turned on the self collision the whole apron come out look like its floating on the air. can you help? thank you.

I have no idea about animation, and you have most likely moved on in 5 months but.... I have never seen a waiter wear an apron under their shirt. The aprons they wear are either half aprons, that are only like a small front skirt or normal aprons that have been folded...never full sized aprons under their shirts

I am able to make capes flow but when I am rendering the cape into frames. the cape becomes stiff. any reason for that?

how do i stop the cape going through other objects? im making a character and the cloak is just going through they're body.

Blender doesn't do so well with cloth collision. I thought that at the end of this video, I showed how to make the cape collide with objects... but the faster the object moves, the more Blender will mess up :/

You cannot export soft body physics. Those physic parameters only work in Blender... since they're Blender's. You'd have to create 'fake' physics using bones, then export the cape physics animation into a FBX. That's why in video games, they have to use separate engines like Havok, for cloth simulations.

Just add an image texture. There are a lot of ways to do it, but you can set the base color value of a material to "image texture" and import the image.

I want to know why rendering (simple stuff relatively) is so slowly. I can't imagine the time required to realworld animations. PD. I'm using GTX770 and Qadro M1200)

Well, this is how they get ya! They sell this 'awesome' laptop like the Qadro M1200, then they throw in the GTX 770. Which isn't the worst GPU by far... but it's not the best by any means. Plus, the GPU is not the only thing that holds back FPS. Your motherboard, ram, processor etc can all play a factor. Not to mention that it's a laptop. Laptops don't run on par with computers. Unless they're a top of the line gaming laptop, specifically build to run 3,000 fps in Minecraft... I recommend the GTX 1050ti. That's the card I have and it works wonders for any situation, especially for the price! (I think it's gone up now though :/ ) Gaming, Blender, music, video editing, you name it! :)

-GTX 1050ti to the rescue!- But yeah, lots of factors pour into rendering-even how fast your drive is. If you want to render more complex animations, get a processor with twice the amount of threads as there are cores (e.g. 4 threads 2 cores, 8 threads 4 cores, 12 threads 6 cores (recommended)). An AMD Ryzen 5 2600 does stupendously well for the price (I even use it for my server)
