Tuv I have constructive criticism. There are things I really liked but since I also make animations and also videogames I can recognize that this was really well done. But I recommend that you don't have too many camera shots. Like I really loved how the animators added so much detail to the background. However, the pacing felt very fast. Like the conversation felt really quick. You could take the time to process what they just said. Because since you put a lot of effort in the animation. there are scenes that could be more emphasized. Like in 2:22 you could've had Sam's facial expression for longer then a second. To process the awkwardness of the flirt Paul gave. Also even having a small pause to drink/eat something or breathe could help with the realism. BUT most importantly. There is something that could help both you and the animators and that is when someone says something instead of focusing on who is saying what. You could have the camera focus on the person before they say something that will get a reaction out of them. For example in 2:22 before saying the flirt. The camera could focus on Sam to see his reaction to the flirt. To see his facial expression change. Since it would be better to have the camera switch every 7 seconds rather than 3. Also use the Camera focus a bit less as it is a bit noticeable. But on a positive note the animation looks awesome and I love the coloring. It goes extremely well with the character design and the background is filled with a lot of detail. It is just the storytelling I am worried about. Since I know cheap ways that can help while also making the show very good.

@dereksegra the bits you talked about pausing on the characters for their expressions, slowing down the pace and making them interact with their environemtns more, like taking a bite of food or glancing at someone as the pass reminds me a bit of Pulp Fiction when the characters just converse over food, and mostly wide shots were used. But also something else to enhance realism could be adding more background sound, not to drown out the characters, but to make the atmosphere itself known by the audience. Hope tuvington sees your tips though

But I think it's because theirs not that many animators working on this, and I can attest to drawing and animating a large amount of objects in the backgrounds, so they used the zoom in zoom out on the characters face to cut work short. Sounds lazy to people who don't do animation, but it's understandable as is like a project, and even if you have your heart set on a project, it becomes a paon in the ass as soon as its being done. working on a fully animated series with just a small team of really talented animators and (maybe) a small budget, project had to be timed in a way that equally devides work and meeting the deadlines.

ive been incredibly hyped for 2 gay cats since the og pilot, and i do like the new animators style, but there doesnt need to be a zoom every time a character talks. along with the fast pace of the conversation (there arent really any breaks for them to process anything the other says, or drink or look around or whatever, its just bam bam bam bam) it kind of overloads you and i couldnt appreciate as much as i wanted to!!! i love paul's new VA, and i think he does an amazing job, and the animator does a really good job, but i feel like its not gonna be watchable for some people. i dont really get motion sick, but even i was feeling a little nauseous at the end. i really wanna see this series go well so i hope you see this tuv, and i cant wait to see where 2 gay cats goes :3

Love the colors, very vibrant and good palate. Could uses some background music or effects such as the rushing of the cars, subtle chatter in the background, maybe some slight wind noises since they are outside. The audio seemed very bare bones almost like raw mp3 files but its nice, im not sure if you're new to voice acting or not but try to almost become the character you want to portray, give them a personality, a unique spark if you will. Id recommend watching other indie animated videos from channels such as Vewn, Glitch, Lackadaisy etc. Aside from that its pretty good, cant wait for more videos man!

As happy as I am that I get to see more of these characters, I will say this animation feels much less lively and dynamic than the sneak peek. There's less emotion, they don't react as vividly to what the other person says and their mouth movements and expressions don't always clearly show how they're feeling about what they're saying. But this is the first episode with a new animator, I hope they don't become discouraged and just use any criticism to improve the animation throughout the series. I still love the characters and I can't wait to see what they'll be getting up to :)

Glad to see this show get a full episode out, but i do have some complains (ignore my previous comment i cant delete it and its worse written -_-) 1: animation the animation compared to the sneak peak released 8 months ago feels a lot more stilted and less like it was done by an actual animatior. while i’d say that the individual drawings are a bit prettier and (in my opinion) fit this show better, the actual animation feels unnatural. The voice acting doesn’t line up with the mouths in the slightest, and the movement feels like 80% tweens. 2: pacing Surprising change from the sneak peak, but the conversation was waaaaaay sped up from what it previously was (despite this video being basically the same convo and still being longer) There’s no dead space between almost anything as if they’re both trying to talk over eachother, which doesn’t match the writing or the artstyle very well. My only guesses as to why/how this happened are the animator felt stressed and/or wanted to have to draw less, or some buffoonery that had to do with paul’s new voice actor’s lines being arbitrarily plopped in with pre-recorded lines, disrupting the flow of the conversation and thus making it feel too fast. There are a few smaller nitpicks i have, like the very end of the conversation making more sense as a fade out thing like the sneak peak, but none are worth going into detail. I’m hoping these can be ironed out in the future. TL;DR: animator needs to be better at expressiveness and lip-syncing, and the pace needs to be slowed down.

i feel like the animation is a lil stiff, i wish there was a bit more variation with the way the characters move and the way they express emotion because it kinda feels flat- but thats honestly just a nitpick and other than that i think this is still very good! cant wait for the next episode! :3

fluidity aint the most important but yeah when its just a 3 minute clip of 2 characters and a static background you can definitely spare more time into the mannerisms while illustrating, regardless that would increase release time by several months even longer if its just a small team so i actually hope the opposite happens where they cut corners as much as possible to release their episodes as frequently as they want, especially since youtube prefers watch time and frequency, which fucks over animators the most out of anyone who posts on here

The sneak peak had more emotions and movements that helped to express the emotions. If you don’t think about the unfinished pieces in the sneak peak, this Pilot feels like a worse option. The cats are more “smooth” and the motions are slower, it kinda irritates me in one way. I also think that you had some grate ideas at the sneak peak, like that he would scratch his coffee mug.

Nice pilot Tuv! Can't wait to see more of these I do have a few criticisms though, I think it'd be better if the mouths aligned with the words they were saying better, since it made it really hard to follow along the conversation with that happening. Another major thing is with the random zoom ins, I get it's supposed to be cute and funny, but I feel like it was overdoing it a bit. Other than that, pretty good episode!

I love it Tuv, but I think you should hire a voice actor for the final show. It feels more like you are narrating rather than being the character. It just doesn't fit. It sounds like you have no emotion and you are just reading the text like you are presenting something. I know this is what you thought yourself from doing yt documentaries, but it doesn't work here.
