As convictions for non payment increase each year I guess the total is probably between 35-40 annually. 2020 is an anomaly with 0 jail sentences but that's probably down to Covid and not charity on the BBCs part

I've just had a letter from TalkTalk demanding I pay them a fee for using their services unless I prove to them that I don't use their services by answering questions at the door or informing them I don't use their services via an online form. If I fail to do either then they are going to send an officer round to investigate me. Oh, wait, hold on, no the letter just tells me what service they are offering and I need to contact them only if I want to use it, not if I don't use it.

At the moment the Courts are in turmoil. They don't have enough staff to answer the phone; they send you letters for a Court hearing which has already finished. Both myself and brother have recently had Court claims and both of us have despaired at the stupid things they are doing.

However, I receive letters on average every two weeks telling me that they will pay me a visit on such date. So far nobody has come, and if they do they will leave with the tail between their legs.

I've not had a licence for nearly 10 years now, but the wording and layout in letters and emails you get sent are getting really desperate now. I just received my latest "Your "No licence required" declaration is about to run out..." email and it was full to the hilt of threats of fines and people coming around to knock on the door and a paragraph saying along the lines of "7 in 10 people claim they don't need a licence when they do. Pay now to make sure you're not one of them!", with a giant blue button to sign up and a barely visible tiny link in small underlined font saying "continue with no licence required declaration". To me it's bordering on defamation of character, almost implying I'm avoiding something I SHOULD be paying for and am illegally avoiding. If any other institution did that they'd be strung up.

I had a visit this week. I am 78 years of age. The guy knocked on the door rather than use the Ring door bell. I said "what do you want". His reply was "is this number (address) etc" I then repeated "what do you want". At this point his said he was from TV licencing and I therefore said " I do not require a TV licence thank you" and closed the door. So apart from "Who are you" twice and "I do not require a licence thank you" the door was firmly closed. No confirmation of my address and he did not get the opportunity of asking my name. It will be interesting where they go from here on. Hopefully to some other poor sod.

A letter of the investigation came in my post the other day. It was addressed to 'The Occupier.' It said that enforcement officers have been authorized to visit my home to investigate whether I require a TV license. They came to my home a few years ago and verified my status that has not changed since then but they seem to be of the impression that I have changed my name to 'The Occupier.' I was visited by a goon a couple of days ago, i was sitting in my lounge with my young son, all of a sudden i noticed somebody looking through my front lounge window, my son was in his pyjama's playing with his laptop, then i heard the door knocked, i opened the door and asked if he had just looked through my lounge window, he replied, yes he was checking to see if i was watching television, i asked who he was and he confirmed that he was a tv licence inspector, to be honest i just usually shut the door in their face, but on this occasion i questioned him why he thought he had the right to look through my window, he just froze, i then started to film him, which he then backed off, he didn't show me his id card, even though i asked to see it, i then informed him that i would be contacting the police to report an incident of voyeurism, he begged me not to do that and walked away, i followed him to see if he had a vehicle so i could record his number plate, what a complete pervert, be on the watch for these parasites who will do almost anything to catch you out, never, ever talk to them and challenge them if they look through your window or try and gain access. Complete goons, who are uneducated and just looking for commission.
