I have seen council surveys which ask me to choose my favourite reason for adopting the new policy. The outcome of the survey is that 100% of respondents indicate support for the new policy.

I think it is only a matter of time till it goes away. When the 75 year olds are refusing to pay could very well be the thing that pushes this issue over the line. Lets face it the BBC is kind of like those cold calling scammers in their tactics and threats. They think they should be paid to provide the same old shit as every other channel. The BBC news isn''t anywhere close to being impartial. So you're basically paying for propaganda. Just imagine if Netflix started sending you letters saying you must pay for a license, when you have no intention of using their services.

Well as long as you only listen to what YT/FB/et al sends you, those who say what you like to hear, then you will only hear from people who do not support a BBC license. Know who doesn't? The Tories. Murdoch. Zuckerburg. The BBC, not beholden to corporate interests because they don't have to sell advertising space to pay for programmes, is a threat to capital propaganda. So they will tell you that there is no support for a TV license, they will tell you that there is overwhelming demand to remove the BBC's funding. How many years now have there been "news" channels on YT claiming that the BBC is being defunded any day now? It's the echo chamber version of an End of Times prediction. To stop spammers and bots. Simply write a script to fill the form in repeatedly and it would be possible to fill the server database/memory with junk and crash it given sufficient time.

I had this survey. The questions were based around "value for money" compared to spotify, netflix etc. It then asks "why did you give the BBC the score you did" My response was "you are a parasite on my monthly income. I want spotify and netflix, I dont want to pay for what I dont use"

We filled out the survey, which made us realise just how little live tv we actually watched and how sick to the back teeth of paying a tv licence fee for repeats, over inflated wages, biased news reporting and the out of touch mentality of the BBC. The next day we cancelled the BBC licence, stating that the survey had made us aware of how sick we were of the BBC. Playing it straight no live tv comes into this house.

The same question I asked when they tried to force a log in when listening to bbc radio via “tune in” app. So I stopped listening to bbc radio. Doesn’t data protection require collection of information to be proportionate and necessary. Hardly seems either to use a free non licenced service. Disappointed that after getting a “you are about to be visited” letter, they went back to the “are you watching?” Letter. Time it was slimmed down and commercialised, which given the government of this colour flogged off most things begs the question why they continue to force us to pay for this.

I received the email with the survey link. I was asked to sign in and did so using the login profile I’ve used for many years. Like you I gave very honest, but polite, feedback. I do have a TV licence, but have become increasingly disenchanted with the BBC in general and its news, current affairs and political stances and reporting in recent years and am debating whether to continue paying the licence fee at next renewal. One aspect of BBC radio and Radio4 in particular is that many of the formerly very funny comedy programmes in the 6.30pm slot on weekdays, sometimes they made political comments at variance with my own views, but it didn’t worry me much because the comedians either singly or in panel show were very funny and they made reasonably balanced jokes about a variety of political viewpoints. In recent years however these programmes have mostly degenerated into unfunny political diatribes, almost exclusively left-wing & ‘woke’, reflecting the allegiances of the comedians concerned - it wouldn’t matter if the comments made were witty or even just plain guffaw-inducing, but they rarely are, instead they’re sour left-wing propaganda. I’ve always adopted the philosophy online that I have nothing to hide, so always use my real name and email address, etc - they can follow me up if they like, but as I have always, so far, paid their lousy extorted licence fee, I really don’t care. KZbin has been a lifeline and I may go with a subscription service reasonably soon (Netflix and/or Amazon) to provide me with entertainment totally beyond BBC tentacles, to allow me to dispense with the TV licence. I do like to listen to Radio3 on occasion, but as even BBC radio programmes are not, since 1971, subject to a licence I will continue to listen with impunity should I dispense with a TV licence. However, as nothing is for free in this life I would not object to a modest radio licence fee for selected radio stations. The compulsory TV licence has to go though - it should pay its way by voluntary subscription or by taking advertising, or a combination.

Back in 1997 when Channel 5 had just started, I had a pair come to my door claiming to be doing a survey on my TV viewing habits, including the new Channel 5. The disclaimer in the email once completed says that "We’ll keep it for up to 270 days - and if we don’t use it we’ll then delete it and any other information you sent us". To me that says that they will wait for 270 days, delete all of the bad ones and publish a "look at all the amazing support we are getting, we have 0 negative results", well they may throw one or two in there but you get the idea.

Didn’t get the survey but I did get a couple of goons at my door with “evidence that I watch BBC programming”. After telling them I wasn’t interested in buying their product I asked what was their “evidence”. Turns out it was my Facebook page and a post that said I was watching Line Of Duty. I told them to wait, went back inside and came back out to them with my Line Of Duty Series 1-5 box set on DVD. Their little faces were an absolute picture and I told them to remove themselves from my garden, politely of course, and went to work. 😂

Also for the first 6 months you have to pay double so you're always in advance. NOT OPTIONAL! That's like Netflix charging you double for 6 months so you have to commit to them for 12 at least.
