This was awesome. Love the charlie brown feel. There was a bit of funk, Jazz and extra piano solos. This was an excellent effort from Joe Jackson and the Roots.

Wow. This rendition was awesome. The Roots took it to another level. You can see Joe is on cloud nine during and after the performance. I generally don't watch NBC at night but the Roots are frickin' geniuses. I can't abide the negativity here in some of these comments.

All the people commenting on how bad this sounds: you’re wrong, you’re probably not a musician, and you likely don’t understand music. The song was rearranged in a jazz/funk style that is much looser than the original version, and the results are spectacular. Questlove in particular is smoking, with a complex but tight beat that most musical Neanderthals wouldn’t understand. Expand your horizons - that’s what Joe’s been doing his whole career. You’re obviously not paying attention.

No. This is obviously a lazy poorly rehearsed version. The bassist doesnt even attempt to play the proper lines. Sorry, but this impromptu version sucks. But they probably didnt have the proper time to rehearse.
