Loved Space Force but Netflix never promoted season 1, hell they did zero promotion for season 2 and I only found it by chance. Netflix losing subscribers and all that isn't the fault of the cast of Space Force. Netflix needs to renew Space Force or they should go to another network.

So many of these shows catered to a very small and very specific audience, and for the most part, not the audience that actually pays the bills. And it isn't that that audience is necessarily anti-anything, it's just that these shows aren't that interesting to anybody but their targeted audience.

Bingo! I think it’s important to understand also, that none of the shows were good. They might cater to a small audience, because of the particular niche they cover, but if they had interesting topics, great writing, and had a variety of selling points that catered to a broader audience then they would’ve done much better. it can be hard though to cater both to a niche audience and a broader audience at the same time. One of the biggest mistakes that producers make is trying to make everyone happy instead of going for a particular audience and going all out. That gamble can sometimes pay off but usually it does not. Unless that niche audience happens to be Wealthy and there’s a lot of them who subscribe to your streaming service.

" The Elephant in the room" is the underlining issue why most of these shows were cancelled, and others like it will be canceled. HBO, Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, and etc. have to make a profit. One of my favorite tv shows was Almost human, but the cost of the series was too much money and they quit after one season.

Yes I really enjoyed Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles but I think they cancelled the show because it was cannon to the first T1 & T2 & T3 but then they made terminator: salvation at the same time & when they made that movie they cancel the Sarah Connor chronicles The problem with the terminator movies & series is there were too many cooks in the kitchen it should of just had James Cameron direct it & no one else

That doesn't need to be a conspiracy though. Adding LBGTQ+ themes or strong female leads, poc leads, etc, doesn't automatically make it a good series. I think it is easy for a show producer and writers to get so wraped upp in being woke that they forget that they need to have a good story as well to keep others than a slim target audience happy. I don't care about what gender or sexual orientation a lead character has but it shouldn't constitute the majority of the plotline because then i loose interest

Netflix apparently doesn't care if show has huge audience if that audience doesn't put aside their entire life to BINGE the show all at once. Their metrics of only keeping shows that are high on "binge list" will kill that service. Actual working adults don't have days and days to do do NOTHING but watch 24 hours of shows.

Raised by Wolves was the most unique sci-fi show in decades. And unlike most current offerings in that genre, you needed to pay attention to what was going on. I'm sad it's not returning since we were left on a cliffhanger with no resolution.

Identity politics, non U.S. interests, degradation and focus on tearing down systems…. Probably not as popular as looper wants those to be? Netflix keeps shows that actually work. They are entirely data driven and don’t cancel things because of a habit. It either works or it doesn’t. Lots of identity politics are on the chopping block because they are tiring to watch, mostly one note affairs on the screen with substandard stories - hence eventual cancellations.

Networks love new shows because viewer numbers are always highest that first year. Then they cancel to start over again to get the highest viewer count that can and typically wait until a higher-than-usual viewer count happens, then they renew hoping that they struck gold. Too many shows have been canceled before viewer have gotten _the chance_ to really enjoy them.

What people fail to understand is that a high audience review may not translate to a profitable audience count. In the case of "Warrior Nun" it was very positive with its viewer audience but more than likely not very watched as a whole from subscribers. If the series had been I can rest assured Netflix would've renewed it.

I have totally given up on any series regardless of genre or thematic representation. The simple fact is that the companies that make these series (e.g. Netflix, etc.) do not know how to run a business and are always on the verge of bankruptcy or financial issues - hence the regular increase in subscription for the service. Therefore, they only way they know how to deal with this issue is to cancel a current project and introduce a new one in hopes that the new series' hype will garner a new mass interest and inject the much-needed funds into their coffers. It's akin to a business that only knows how to deal with their finances by laying people off; i.e. reducing the skillset, experience, and resources required to run their business - which means NO sense. This suggests that there is obviously no future planning, from a business perspective, with these shows. If so, they would have a planned timeline with budget to match; e.g. three years with a possibility of extending. That's not only bad business planning, but also a lack of qualified leadership. I could go on-and-on, but I digress. The simple fact is... if a show has the potential of being cancelled, why bother to watch it if there will be no closure or conclusion to the over-all story? Moreover, if you know the series was cancelled, and you're watching it after-the-fact, there is absolutely no sense in watching it at all. Why watch something that that will end on a season cliffhanger that will never provide resolution? Therefore, I have totally given up on any series regardless of genre or thematic representation.

If Netflix was smarter they would budget their shows like this & then return the more popular higher rating shows after it passed the 3 seasons test!

Straight (an older) white male here…couldn’t care less if characters are gay or trans in a show if it has great writing and direction. The key for me is where the characters just happen to be gay etc, it’s not the reason for the show. It’s just the world. Feel the same with political messaging in content vs. the character just happens to believe certain things but it’s all in context with the story, same with religion etc. Content needs to focus on the basics of good story and let characters orientations and beliefs appear more organically. Of course I’m sure this comes off as code for our warriors out there as “know your place”..lol I’d like to believe that any provider cares about one thing above all else, ROI. If a show with strong LGBTQ+ messaging is a hit with solid viewership through it’s episodes they’d be crazy to cancel it. I may not care to watch but I’m just one guy who wants more decent horror and SciFi shows.

The Warrior Nun was the only one of these shows that I was super invested in. I used to love Legends of Tomorrow but lost interest, and Westworld became far too convoluted to remain an enjoyable watch.

Yea, 1899 getting cancelled sucked! The upside is at least the ending of the first season could be a logical ending to a series, instead of just left hanging. Didn't know Moonhaven got axed, but suspected it would. I liked it enough to continue to watch, but it almost seemed to be a series half-assed done to see if it got traction. What, it had like 6 or 8 episodes? As a sci-fi lover, I have seen it over and over again. Series of the genre getting canceled early in their lifetime. I suspect it has to do with cost of special effects, sets and costumes. I've come to expect series of the type to more likely die, usually abruptly. It's disheartening as someone who loves the genre.

@@SexyButCurious back in the late 90's a show I watched got canceled without closure. I swore off TV series for about 15 or so yrs because of it. It really grated on me the wrong way. Yea, I know that sounds crazy; but I literally just did not care to watch TV series anymore. I think around the pandemic is when I really got into watching TV series again. I ran out of movies that interest me so started going back and watching old series. The only exception I can think of as far as TV was Game of Thrones, which I didn't even really get into that until the 2nd or 3rd season. I can remember binge watching over a couple of weekends to catch up with the plot. Some of the great shows I found during the pandemic that I missed over that time. Eureka Under the Dome Haven The Strain The 100(started watching right before the show ended) Andromeda Battlestar Galactica(nope, didn't see it until 2021 sometime) Babylon 5 There are others, but basically I saw none of those until 2021 and beyond.

The Nevers even got cancelled which was a great show. They shouldn't have blamed the show for Joss Whedon's drama. Hopefully the rest of season one remaining episodes get shown on another network, which is in the talks to do so. Netflick's Carnival Row is also ending with a final season.

Ngl the over-saturation of Network shows & Streaming shows have made it so I can say this. I have never heard of some of these shows. New Amsterdam, Westworld and Spaceforce were the only new shows that I've heard of and I had thought that Legacies, Batwoman, Legends of Tomorrow and Bull were cancelled a few years ago. I had also thought that Warrior Nun and Raised by Wolves were Streaming Movies with Saved by the Bell being one of the Dark Gritty Movies detailing the drama and scandals behind the scenes during the making of the original show.

Now imagine running a marathon and there were also snipers who unexpectedly kill various contestants and just a few survivors in the marathon. I think a good portion of HBO shows cancelling is that the majority of viewers such like myself. Are tired of female driven lead characters gay or not gay. There needs to be a balance of characters and the war on strong male leads need to end. As of late most male roles make them seem simp... For example the reason CW Vampire Diaries was so popular is because of the variety of characters weak n strong.

I see many of these shows catered to specific audiences and not everyone is ready for the wokeness of these shows. People are not racist or homophobic, it is just not to their taste. Stop pushing the woke agenda and be inclusive of everyone.

Ryan Wilder is to blame for the low viewership. Kate Kane was what drew people in to watch but then all of a sudden we get someone called Ryan Wilder. Not from the comics so no wonder no one wanted to watch her. Legends of Tomorrow was NOT the lowest CW show. Batwoman was

I think what bothered me the most in this whole video was the reference to millennials looking back fondly on Legends of the Hidden Temple. Millennials had not been born yet, nor had the term. It was Gen X and Y kids. This obsession with taking several groups that already had designations that were all born BEFORE the millennia and forcing them into this box with these kids is tired.

If they brought back Kate Kane as Batwoman it would be worth watching again, but the show just became silly when they replaced that character. Legends of Tomorrow was ok in season 1 but went downhill fast when they turned it into a fantasy-mythical comedy show. And raised by Wolves was just getting better. But as everyone knows CEO's and Board members are idiots and simply aren't smart enough to understand Sci-Fi shows. Producers should buy back their rights and simply produce Sci-Fi shows directly to disc and say screw the big production companies. Hollywood is basically dead now and if you want to see anything good it's made in Vancouver now. If not made in Vancouver it's not worth watching anymore.
