The Mini wins this race driving slower!
But it could be contested as Susan was delayed taking pictures of the GOM before and after charging at my request
The Mini was held up by a caravan, horse box and tractor plus I stopped for 2 mins to check Susan's GPS location on Google.
Hind sight is wonderful and that's exactly what we now have , we've learnt what worked well and what didn't and most importantly the miles per kWh difference putting your foot down on dual carriageways. I saps the efficiency.
Great fun and a fair result ???

Interesting result; thanks for sharing. One takeaway is the unpredictable impact of traffic delays.

Very true! So often you speed up just to slow down further up slow and steady for the win

Interesting... I am off to the other side of Nottingham this weekend. 121 miles. 3 adults with luggage in the Born. Will be interesting to see what I get in comparison driving at 60mph where possible. So my normal drive will be something of the middle ground between yours and Susans driving. Though I am heading off at 5pm! So traffic will be a major factor.

It is bizarre that manufacturers are still continuing with the primitive GOM approach used in the original Leaf. Surely by now all software ought to be able to predict the range based on the destination set, taking into account speed limits and elevation change. ☹️ ABRP estimates range based on the trip ahead, so why are big companies like BMW and VW still guessing range based on where the car has been? 🤔

You could say that about satnavs, 30 years in and they still don't have options to avoid silly cut through narrow lanes

Wait a minute, I backed the correct vehicle. Sorry Susan, not you, it's the VW as a brand. Overpriced for what the brand stood. A new car??? Let me take a guess... You said, no to Renault, so I'm deleting the French from the list. You had a Hyundai, so Asian cars aren't out of the running. You had a Mini before the Mini, but the guess would be that the needs are for the vehicle to be slightly bigger, with more space. You have the Golf, so the Germans are also in the running. I would've said the New Mini, but is it out yet. So I am also deleting Tesla, seeing that there are so many videos on it. May I say Ora Cat, but the boot is too small for Susan's needs. Making the BYD Dolphin, possibly too small as well, so maybe BYD Atto 3, seeing that the MG 4 didn't make the list the last time, because of how it felt while driving. I definitely know, Honda E is too small, so not even thinking it would be that. Would it be fair to say that Polestar and Volvo misses the plot, not because of design and quality, but because the vehicle would test you and make for good content on, "Ooooh, I was tapping my feet in an anxiety fit because I was short on range" or something like that. It definitely won't be a massive battery like the Hyundai Kona, which only tested you on economy runs, and to outdo yourself on the previous records. I'm saying, BYD Atto 3, because it wouldn't just be reviews on the cars capabilities, but also the build quality. As they say, slow and steady wins the race, and pushing yourself too fast makes for unwanted mistakes. Nice win Mini.

@@EVPuzzle how bout the Cupra Born, because the design is more aggressive and so much prettier than VW ID3, and would make a good replacement for the Golf. Can't see a massive SUV on your country road / B Roads with the space. Personally, I do like the Kia Nero E, Hyundai Kona, and Mini Cooper. The Fiat 500e is too small, what I want to be comfortable in the rear when driven around, suffer from migraines. Ford Mach E, no not calling it a Mustang, that is reserved for the V8 in my book. The door handles and door apertures are nonexistent on the outside. Mercedes have too many ICE conversions just as BMW has the big nostril problem (do they want to be fire breathers). Citroen, DS and Vauxhall (Opel for South Africans) are all from the same group, as is Fiat. Porsche definitely beautiful but way expensive. Audi will be looking at the pocket delving and flattening. Chademo is not an option, as you only get maybe one or two at a stop, and being phased out. Not certain now, but Cupra Born makes for a good argument too. Seeing that the last few years have been vehicles that not just tested your mathematic skills on the fly, but also your trust in the vehicle. I'm estimating, bigger boot, enjoyable drive, max 50kWh battery, friendly and desirable services from the dealer, good on the eye, not Chademo, CCS, possibly 100kW charging capability or a flat charging curve that drops afterwards 80/85%. Oooh, vehicle to load, just to see how it would work with your solar battery system. And comfortable for about 140+miles, my thinking I don't like driving for more than 150-160miles, most of my stops are usually on the 125mile range. Let say, this is my requirements, seeing that the EV game is now moving slowly but faster than a year ago, and no Chademo or Tesla DC charging here, only CCS with the Euro Type 2 AC charging.

We did order one last September but it was cancelled ... Glad really as it wasn't great value over what we have . A few steps forward but not enough . The teenage mutant ninja style badging is not really me shall we say so it was always a compromise . What car is perfect ....the one I've ordered hopefully

@@EVPuzzle now I'm stumped, but not out. Totally off the board and off grid. An electric aqua flying car. Just the thought of a road going car capable of performance, skipping the traffic by flying low enough not to plot a flight plan, but high enough to overlook the traffic, then float on a lake or ocean for a quick trip to France or Germany with a fishing excursion. Marvelous. But the negatives that would be, size to weight, with weight limitations on luggage and occupants constraints. Not to mention all the licenses just to utilize the vehicle. Let this Gen X not think of something that will make me mathematically figure out the requirements, and then calculate which composition of materials should be used. Small hint, old guard manufacturer or newish to the Western World? Price would give a better indication, but who wants the easy way out. No, the psycho-social requirements from both you and Susan, not your pragmatic requirements, Nigel. That would be fun to investigate.
