Great video Nicholette, well filmed and edited. Even if peak hour is over I'm amazed of how quiet the station is considering (almost) all lines serve it and that it's right next to a university. Didn't hear any station announcements either which I thought was weird.

***** Yeah, most of the off-peak traffic uses the local bus lines and there's a subway station only 5 blocks west of this station so naturally people would go for the cheaper subway or bus option because the Suburban trains actually is a wee bit expensive. $4 USD compared to $2.25 USD for the subway or bus. ($3.25 if you transfer to any other local line.)

Nicholette Casey I figured the nearby Broad Street line would have something to do with it, and maybe even the dismal hourly frequencies on most lines.

I'm so glad to see 100% positive feedback on this video. I smashed the heck out of that like button. Good thing there are no dislikes.

it's hard to imagine why anyone would give a dislike to any train videos. anyone who takes the time to record these, deserves a thumbs up all the way +++++

Nikki, I have a little more respect for these MU Cars now that I've seen them "naked" in Denver, since they have similar MU Cars by the same builder! Without all the SEPTA Deco. :)

How many trains does SEPTA terminate at Temple, other than Airport Line?
@CaseysTrains9 жыл бұрын
+Kevin Meno Many actually. Most outbound peak trains terminate here and most inbound peak begin here because there a yard, Roberts Yard, in North Philadelphia about a few miles up the line where most trains layover. The Trenton, Elwyn, Newark, & Airport Line usually begin/end here.

When will they modernise those trains.
@CaseysTrains8 жыл бұрын
Well the Rotem cars are as modern as your going to get for now, those were delivered about five year ago. The newest cars are only three years old. They talk, they move The GE Cars while old have been recently upgraded with PTC (Positive Train Control) and cab signaling. The interiors redone in early 2000s to a blood red on grey interior paint job which is a radical departure from the faux wood they use to have. Seats also done up in two tone grey scheme. They are due for retirement in 2025 by the supportive "Silverliner VI".

Nicholette Casey Look at the Trains in Sydney. They look more modern in design
@CaseysTrains8 жыл бұрын
+Super Crazy Disco Kangaroo 9001 Of course no doubt about that. As a country though America is behind so this is best Philadelphia can offer for a suburban train. NJ Transit and Long Island RR have us beat by a long shot and Sydney and even Melbourne make any electric suburban system in American look like pure crap! Lol. One day we will have a system like Sydney. We're JUST get around to getting tap cards and eventually fare barriers at our downtown stations.
@SuperCrazyDiscoKangaroo90018 жыл бұрын
Nicholette Casey Yes. We call Tap Cards "Opal"

+Super Crazy Disco Kangaroo 9001 Ours just came out and is called "The Key". It not even a week old and regional suburban trains do not take them as of yet. Only buses, subways and trolleys(trams) until a future date :( Doesn't benefit me as a weekly user of the suburban system.
