I just replaced the original pump in my 2003 Ford Exploder Eddie Bauer V8 with an aftermarket pump from Rock Auto. Immediately the engine was having trouble starting. I finally put the fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail test valve and the pressure pumps up fine on for the prime but immediately goes back to zero PSI as soon as the pump stops the primer cycle - exactly the same as you show with your pump! I guess some pumps have an internal check valve and some don't. It would be nice if the manufacturers would specify this as it is a heck of a job to drop the tank to replace the pump! I replaced my pump the easy way: I cut a hole in the floor above the fuel pump assembly and did the fuel pumpectomy that way.

Nice job my man! Love how you show everything!! At some point we all are gonna be hit with this ! Lol If you noticed when you turn your key it primed no need to crank it 👍🏻 Which makes me think back to the other vid because with key on it didn’t prime however when you cranked it well it did But when tested with the tank out it shot right up ! And then I was like wait ! It’s the rubber line to the pump haha! Man I had some fun with this ! Thanks again! I wonder why they went with a dead head fuel system a little money saved I guess but more stress on the pump ... Hopefully you come across one that needs a sun roof repair lol I did see one on the valve cover gasket replacement that looks real fun!! My daughters could use it but I think I’m just gonna pull the plugs let it drain put them back in every year lol 243’000 actually probably 250 now Same motor same trans just replaced the last 2 original coil packs last summer Did all of the front suspension Needs either a rear bearing or rear diff bearing Whines but gets better when I give it gas Think that means diff 🤷🏻‍♂️ Might just go to the yard since these are plenty around my way ... Find one with a posi lol

I wonder if that plastic fuel line from the pump was bleeding down pressure, you said it was easy to get off. well at this point it dosent matter

I have an 07 trailblazer. Wife got temporarily caught at the intersection stalled and she had to restart the vehicle. Took her several seconds to restart. I'm thinking that the fuel pump is starting to go, not sure yet. Not looking forward to dropping that tank though.

I have to change the fuel pressure sensor on a 2005 gmc envoy 4x4. You think i can fit my hand and remove it or would have to drop the tank acouple of inches? Also how did you perform the pressure test. Im chasing a P0455 and its either the fuel pump or sensor

Simply lift the fuel pump straight up and out of the tank. do not turn it from its seated position . and do not cock it to the side either . or you will be fighting it .

There was clamp on my OEM Expedition Fuel pump . You may of had a leak at the pump. Who ever was in there last was a hack

If it goes to zero quickly why would you pull the gas tank off it's most likely your injectors leaking I think you already know this or maybe not well I'm a mechanic so sorry if I affended
