the only way they would be truly impossible is if they had better “brains” (lines, shortcuts, item usage, etc.) but that sounds hard af to code

i was thinking about this too, i think one doable way to make them better at item usage at least would be getting them to all deliberately target the player with reds- if they're near enough to the player, then they try to follow/hone in on them to catch them with the revolving shells, and if they're ahead of the player with reds, backspam, etc. i was also thinking that hardcoding at least some of the major easy shortcuts like the grumble volcano respawn cut might not be too hard, especially since you don't really need items. if custom track creators can get cpus to follow their tracks, then it can't be too hard to get the cpus to follow those kinds of hard coded paths

Or just make the CPU’s neural networks so that they learn overtime and adapt to tracks to come up with the best theoretical lines after enough times playing. So basically, race against AI that improve over time so it gets progressively more challenging

It is a genuine talent to be able to make a 40 minute offline video against cpus interesting and engaging. I think that this True Impossibile CPUs Mode is really good, but I also think that it should have other characteristics: -All CPU players use Bullet Bikes, Mach Bikes and Flame Runners only -CPU players take better lines and can do shortcuts they wouldn't normally do (Single cut on DK Summit, Grumble Volcano respawn glitch, etc...) -CPU players charge a stand-still mini turbo after they get hit by a shell and stop. -CPU players take the bonus speed after falling of the track (which human players can do by pressing A on the controller as your vehicle touches the ground)

Grumble volcano was great. Lap 2 reminded me of the infinite blue shell mod just with both red and blue shells. You were still able to come back and win the race.

I was so used to online that: -I thougt that bumping the CPUs didn't make them fall on their screens -Red shells lagged -10 and 11th place was last place due to disconnections -Mega ThunderClouds were a thing -Player lag affected the CPUs
