Thanks for all your 'Beginner' and 'Budget' info/build content. I've only been playing for 3.5 yrs and look to up my builds aside from DPS. There are creators that push 'Meta' / 'DPS' record builds but I enjoy the game and it gives me room to grow. Plus - Love Star Trek -- even have old board games from the 60-70s FYI, I have 2 accounts: Lifer and F2P (created F2P to empathize with helping new players w limited resources and understanding the limits of F2P). I have 3 Discord armadas of which I'm active, running TFOs, episodes, shoot the breeze,... with them. 1 will spend time w build Again, thanks for your YTs and hope they stay up to point others towards.

I last played STO back in 2012, I started when they made it F2P and managed to get a lvl 50 Tac, a lot of STF gear under my belt, and ran around in the cloaking Defiant. For whatever reason I am on a Trek binge right now, and that desire for Trekkie stuff made me think back to STO. I would love to start over, play solo, and maybe go Eng this time. Nine years on the game is just so different in many ways, so tutorial vids such as these are a must for me.

thank you for taking to the time to give advice and talk best use of lobi and which gear is good to grab first ! , i want to add on the Bioneural infusion Console : the hull bonus is Converted to Crit chance thanks to the " Discovery reputation trait Tyler Duality" and the Control expertise is converted to energy weapon damage thanks to the "space personal trait : Fragment of AI tech" ! This console is really amazing !

I was looking for a better AP-omni, and picked up the Ba'ul set, and love it. I ended up switching to a multi-target/reflection based build, with the Ba'ul stuff, and the Nukara rep set (the beam bank will chain with all 3 bits, IIRC). The 2pc Ba'ul will cause all AP weapons to chain, so might not have needed the Nukara set, but, I quite like it :). Also using Distributed Targeting, and another console that turns your weapon attacks into AoEs. I think it works well? I play a SpaceWizard build, so it's hard to tell sometimes what's blowing people up :P

Great advice! I'm basically mid-tier because I partly roleplay my ship ala robot chicken, but I do have those same consoles. There's another console that also gives high crit chance and it's the ROM rep uni console. If you're short on lobi, the rom uni console is a good bet alongside the lorca one, and the omega one.

Your assessment is absolutely correct. A good build on a T4 will take you further than a poorly crafted build on a promo ship. Once you've established a good build, plopping it onto a good ship is so much better.

The more I learnt recently that more I've leaned towards honestly just picking a ship you think looks nice. With decent gear and boff layout you can turn most end game ships into killers that'll have no problem with anything you're going to come up against. It's much more satisfying to fly around in a ship you think looks great over one that is more high-end top meta. Unless you're the type of player that is really wanting to hit top end of the DPS charts there's almost no point in picking a ship purely based on its DPS capability/standing.

quick Q&A 1- when you upgrade an item. you can reconfigure its damage type. what's better between dam, critD, critS, and so on. 2- what ships do you recommend getting for the unlocks. Like you did with the xindi ship. ( weapon dam / shields & hull. )

I generally go with Dmg mods on my weapons once I have my base crits to 45-50% chance, 180-200% severity and will use crit mods to fill in the gaps as needed prior. Hands down the Arbiter Battlecruiser should be everyone's first Cstore ship. Awesome ship and its trait will be used on all energy weapons builds.

So many ways to stack Crit stats. With these three in my build, If I were looking to maximize Crit stats on my T6X Endeavor, I would run something like this; Universal: Flagship Tactical Computer (comes with ship) Engi: * House Martok Defensive (mission) * Tachyokinetic Converter (Lobi) * Bioneural Infused Circuitry (Lobi) * Assimilated Module (Omega Rep) Sci * Temporal Disentanglement Suite (mission) * Altamid Swarm Processor (Lobi) * Zero Point Energy Conduit (Romulan rep) Tactical * Lorca's Custom Controls (Discovery rep) * Fleet Locator (Fleet Spire) * 2xFleet Exploiter (Fleet Spire Space Traits (for Crit only); * Terran Targeting Systems * Adaptive Offense Starship Trait (Crit Only); * Supercharged Weapons Space Rep (Crit Only); * Advanced Targeting Systems * Precision * Tyler's Duality Note that, if you have a low resting Crit Chance, Enhanced Rending Shots may help. The higher your resting Crit Chance is, the less often you will be proc'ing ERS. Better to drop something with Bonus Damage into that fourth (& fifth) slot(s). Magnified Firepower and Aux to Offense are both likely candidates. Hurm, don't know why I felt the need to theorcraft that. I think the idea for a max crits build has been brewing for a while now and this seemed like the best time. Oh, and Subscribed now. Really like where you're taking the channel.

Great explanation of these consoles, but my real issue is getting these Lobi crystals in the first place. STO is a bit of mess when it comes to explaining these things. I still have no idea where to get Lobi crystals outside of opening chests.

While I have heard some argue and not without good points that the Tachyo might not be worth the cost, due to the AssMod largely, it's still an excellent console and I have never felt reason to regret grabbing it on my first toon

There is more to the Tachyokinetic Converter than just crit stats. I might prioritize that particular console lower than the others, but it is definitely a "must have" for me.

The Ba'ul stuff is also rather good for a bit more dps, because of the two set bonus, which gives all antiproton weapons the refraction. The two set bonus also give an additional 100% bonus dmg for the refraction. (when I saw it right, the Ba'ul refraction also stacks with the enhanced tholian dual beam refraction)

That's a very informative vid mate. I always thought the Lobi consoles weren't all that but I never knew you got these stats from Epic. That's given me something to think about, thanks. This is gonna give me headache cos I already have some very nice Epic universal consoles. What to slot? What to remove? But that's the game isn't it? And I dread to think what your ship will be like once you've finished the Endeavours! 😉

Great information! Really nice trait on that Xindi-Primate one, but I'd never fly it. I've been looking at the NX Escort Refit in the lobi store because of it's trait but when I think about it, a cannons/beams hybrid setup seems maybe a bit weird. Still lots of time to decide.

A Polaron cannons/beams build would work well with the Morphogenic 3-piece and Mixed Armaments Synergy. Not sure I'd buy a single character unlock for a narrow build application but still thought I'd mention it.

You actually don't need to run mixed armament for that trait. All you need is the bridge officer skill. If you're running a cannon build, throw the beam skill on your build. Yeah, it won't effect any of your weapons itself, but you'll still get the boost to your next cannon skill.

I appreciate your videos as a newer player I have learned a lot of the more interesting stuff to work towards. I would probably take the lobi if I was a f2p player but I am really leaning toward the promo ship. I really want the Voth Flight Deck Carrier and it doesn't seem achievable otherwise. I really want the good consoles eventually though and these videos are amazing!

Seeing the USS Chattanooga, gave me a wonderful Idea. I've been struggling for ship names, and I think my next will be the U.S.S. Glenn Miller, followed by Satchmo, etc.

I usually just look at a map and then use a simple system to pick a name for my ship. Or use legendary/mythical figures, famous people who have done good things, or use an animal name but use a foreign language of said animal. Examples are my Jem"Hadar Temporal Vanguard Warship the "U.S.S. Hiawatha"(a mythical Native American hero) and the U.S.S Taka

Do we need to prioritize CS and CC consoles compared to universals that boost the damage type we need ? For example, there are so many phaser-boosting univ consoles you'd need 15+ console slots to fit them all. And where is that discord channel you talk about?

wow! i already have the bioneural infusion console. probably obtained from a ship since i never have bought something off the lobi store before. I already use it but now all i need is to log in daily so i can refine my dill so i can upgrade it. i upgraded everything but that console xD going to look into seeing if my build can accept one of the other 2. its will be a tight fit as all my consoles are geared for energy dmg already. but maybe i got a weak console in use....

Lobi comes from the pilot episode of Voyager. Quark tries to sell lobi crystals to Harry Kim, at inflated prices, until Tom Paris mentions that they quite common. P!ease reference for proper pronunciation: Low-buy. Oh....and good vid.

It is the Dark Matter Quantum Torpedo from the Disco rep. I would recommend using it with the Lorca's Custom Fire Controls console (also from the disco Rep). The Console is very good and the 2 peace give stacking crit chance.

@@MCStu I got that Dark Matter Torp a few days ago. Epic'd it up and was toying with it over my usual fave Torp....but you need a few goes to work out how to use new stuff properly don't you? Seems like a VERY nice three piece set. So ta once again. Now .....just for that Universal Designs. I can afford to buy that ship off the Exchange but it'd leave me down to about 600 million EC and that's scarily low! Is it really worth it?

Same as anything else, once you right click and select upgrade they with default to MK XII. Just don't do this until you are at least lvl 50 otherwise it will default to whatever max MK is for your lvl.

Phaser overload working very good. I am new to the game. Your vids are awesome... got me pointed in the right direction into understanding how the game works, how items work and ships differ. Working on a stealth cannon build now on a section 31 ship. Sucker for assassin classes.

I kind of dislike 'build' talk in this game always reverts to crits and nothing else. The game provides incredible fun making cool ocmbinations that do vastly different things, but no. It only matters what provides a crit percentage. You're not building, you're just comparing numbers and adding them up. I want to see Metreon Canisters on a Malon Battlecruiser. The most assimilated adapted warbird. The ultimate turret boat. That sort of thing. This is such boring stuff.
