there’s a theory that goes around the clique that you find the boys, or stumble upon them, when you need them most in your life. I have to say that I 100% believe that it’s true. this band, this community, has been an a godsend for me. i don’t listen to music the same anymore after finding them. it’s gotta really speak to me as a person to grab me and no other band does that for me like tøp does. also, your espresso analogy made perfect sense to me. 🖤

Well that he began to understand why God died is actually referring to Jesus who died to save everyone. He began to understand it, because he wanted to save this girl as well. Also he sings "please send them on my way", so he is realising, that with music he has a bigger purpose, and can actually save lives.

Yea it makes sense. It connects to the fact he said the heart in his car was packed by someone else. Also why in the Trench album booklet they thank God for sending his son.

My interpretation is that the song is about sacrifice. Tyler is willing to offer himself to the demons if it means leaving his friend alone and he correlates that to Jesus being willing to sacrifice himself for sinners. I’m not a religious person, but i am familiar with Christianity. As a parent, I can relate to loving your child so much that I would die for them.

i think the god dying thing is about how jesus died so we could live a good n fulfilling life helping others. and i also think the “chills in my bones - send them all my way” part was tyler meeting jesus and seeing a glimpse of what he has planned and decides to change his course and go back to help this girl character. him understanding why god died is like “hey now i understand, jesus died, its so i could help this person through this dark time in their life” cause at the end he’s walking away w a jar of her heart and jars are fragile, you have to take very good care of them. but thats just my interpretation, what do you think?
@ng35794 жыл бұрын
That’s what I think too. “The send them on my way” part I feel like is related to “I began to understand why god died” he died to save us all. He died to keep the demons away, died in our places so to say. So that we may live on and not have to fight the demons alone.

here are the lyrics so you guys can visualise how powerful they are like, there is NOTHING like tyler music out there and this is why The air begins to feel a little thin As I start the car, and then I begin To add the miles piled up behind me I barely feel a smile deep inside me And I begin to envy the headlights driving south I want to crack the door so I can just fall out But then I remember when you packed my car You reached in the back and buckled up your heart For me to drive away with I began to understand why God died The demons sat there waiting on her porch It was a little dark so we held a makeshift torch And when my car was far out of sight He crept in her room and stayed there for the night And then I felt chills in my bones The breath I saw was not my own I knew my skin that wrapped my frame Wasn't made to play this game And then I saw him, torch in hand He laid it out, what he had planned And then I said I'll take the grave Please just send them all my way And then I felt chills in my bones The breath I saw was not my own I knew my skin that wrapped my frame Wasn't made to play this game And then I saw him, torch in hand He laid it out, what he had planned And then I said I'll take the grave Please just send them all my way I began to understand why God died The air begins to feel a little thin As we're waiting for the morning to begin But for now you told me to hold this jar And when I looked inside I saw it held your heart For me to walk away with I began to understand why God died

My interpretation when he says "I began to understand why God died" is that he was willing to die for this other person, willing to take her place the way Jesus did for us. At this point he was grappling but still very religious. This album, for me, is about his struggling to come to terms with "if you're here why do bad things happen". My favorite part is when he says his skin isn't meant to play this game, it is almost him saying the sadness and loss is almost too much for him to deal with. This is one of my favorite songs from them.

Self Titled was my favorite album from them for awhile but the more you listen to the album Trench, you realize just how genius it is. My previous favorite album was The Wall by Pink Floyd, Blurryface almost took over that spot. When Trench was released, it quickly became my favorite of all time. I just recently went on a road trip and listened to Vessel, Blurryface and Trench in a row, for maybe the 100th time since 2018. You realize just how amazing Trench is, truly a masterpiece with all its flaws and all! Cucumber brother!!

This song is one of the many TOP songs that cycle as my favorite song of all songs out there. Yes all songs out there, something about it that is so powerful and resonates with me and even the double whistle (??) beat/sound works for me. An yes the way he phrases his wording are so amazing and that is why this album will always be important to me even if the sound quality or whatever someone else might beat it down for i not there but to be honest that adds to the powerful raw emotions this album pours out it would almost be less if it was highly produced IMO. Great work as usual and on the money.

Great reaction!! Awesome how you’re able to pick up on the meanings, I personally have always felt that that the chorus also has another meaning when he says ‘and then I felt chills in my bones, the breath I saw was not my own’. For me it’s always been that he suddenly feels cold and scared because he feels/sees a gust of breath in the air in the corner of his eye and so he knows something is wrong as it wasn’t his own, finding that the demon is right behind him, breathing next to him. And then the line ‘I knew my skin that wrapped my frame wasn’t made to play this game’ is him saying he doesn’t feel able to confront such a beast, but at the end is strong enough to sacrifice himself. Again great reaction!
@samuellazzell75254 жыл бұрын
You pick up on the meanings of these VERY quickly. I think the “why God died” line means something different though. I think he’s referring to the redemptive death if Christ in the New Testament. He died so we wouldn’t have to. He “buckled up His heart” so we could continue our journey through life and push through our depression and suicidal urges, etc.

Ok after watching your reaction I have a totally different feel for this song and I think from most. I’m wondering now if this was about someone else who maybe took or attempted to take her life and his own fears of that within himself. I’m actually wondering if the ‘ god died’ part is that this is the moment he started questioning gods existence as such & needing answers to questions raised by the events spoken of in the song. 🤷♀️. Every time I listen I get new ideas about what’s behind each song

I think that the part that says “I begin to understand why god died” I think he’s relating Jesus dying for our sins to him taking on her burdens. So he understands and can relate to god in that way. He understands why sacrifices have to be made. That’s just my interpretation.

I think this is Tyler’s most overtly Christian song. I began to understand why God died isn’t saying that God didn’t care or wasn’t there. It’s saying I began to understand sacrificial love. Tyler could have just stayed in a nice Christian cocoon, safe and tidy, but when he realized what the evil one was doing in the minds and hearts of others, causing anxiety and suicide, he said I’ll take the grave. I’ll give my life, I’ll spend my life, my talent, in reaching these other people, these Heathens, without any judgment, so they know they are not alone, that staying alive is worth it! I think he really loves his people, especially those that have shared that have struggled with the same dark thoughts he has.
