This is what Tyler has to say about CAR RADIO Car Radio "This is way out in left field when it comes to song structure because there is no chorus, there’s no hook! The verses are talking about a true story of me being late to class, I was in college trying to do that whole thing because that’s what you’re meant to do I guess, I dropped out after that…..the point is, I was late to class and I forgot to lock my door and when I came back out everything had been gutted and stolen out my car. At the time financially I was not able to replace anything that was taken, the GPS, the radio, all my CD’s. When I get in the car my first reaction is to put the radio on and for a while I wasn’t able to do that and finding out that once I removed that piece of me I realised that sometimes music can act as a distraction and can get in the way of where your mind wants to go."

Thank you for posting the quote about the song origin. I always took the song literally and I'm glad to hear that is accurate. Put your cell phone down for a day and see where your mind goes when you aren't distracted with car radio music, TicToc vids, Snapchat filters and Instagram stories. Good luck with that. 2020 style meditation.
@saumyapande29004 жыл бұрын
@@TheNewAmericanMedia I agree. Music, sm, apps are a distraction from the real world. Last year I went for trekking in the hills. And the place where I was staying had a power cut for almost 18 hours. I was watching a cricket match and didn't bother to even 'save the battery', my phone died. I became anxious that I was not able to use twitter etc. It's really scary how gravely we're dependent on such distractions to a point that it becomes unhealthy... Anyways I really hoped 2020 could be different but here I am, stuck in a lockdown.😅
@anthonytoro31034 жыл бұрын
I’m pretty late. I’m sorry. Just now got into this guy. But this is crazy. Cause most of the time, people need that distraction (music) to move on in life. To keep going. It’s like using it to keep going and seeing it as a distraction just contradict itself. You need music as a distraction to keep moving forward, but it’s a distraction from moving forward.

The whole thing with his mask is also explained in the “Guns for Hands” music video, but that end concert scene is also important because he’s showing himself surrounded by these people who are kind of looking at him, kind of not but he’s so consumed by his thoughts that he doesn’t even notice or ever turn around and look at them. Then at the very end when he’s alone again and the noise is gone, he takes off the mask and he still mimics shooting his brain. Like he’s basically saying there’s no way around acknowledging those demons. You can’t make them go away

If someone steals your car radio, now you gotta go to work in silence, and just deal with your thoughts. For me (my interpretation and taking from the song) the song was me and the radio and the music were life and happiness but they (the radio) were taken (depression & anxiety) and I was driving the car (my body) which was just empty and silent inside because there was no radio anymore. All that was left were the voices (anxiety & depression) in my head echoing around and the lack of radio meant that was all I could hear anymore.
