The song is written for Tyler's brothers in the video, the younger brother creates the older brother in his imagination to help him get through life and deal with the loss of his mom - you can see at the beginning their dad chooses booze to deal with the loss and the imaginary brother is how the kid ends up dealing with it - it's great seeing people's reaction the first time the older brother disappears when they walk through the door!

My Blood isn’t always from my blood. They can be, but often are the people who are the ones there no matter what - the good times, the bad times, the quiet times. I love the sister of my blood, but whenever I’ve had emergencies, I call the sisters of my heart. And they always step up & vice versa

My Blood represents t0p’s ability to create a sense of belonging and community for their listeners. Not unlike many of their other songs the lyrics can be interpreted in several different ways. Indeed the beauty of twenty one pilots is that the true meaning of most of their music in totality from albums to live performances lies within the beholder. Do you need a loved one to go with you? Do you need to go with yourself? Do you need to go with God? One thing is certain: you may be able to get through the vicissitudes of life alone, but it’s a hell of a lot easier if you have some willing and loving company. Tyler has recounted that part of the inspiration for this song was a real life experience in which he quipped that if he were to have to defend someone he loved he would need a bat. But the song is much more significant and expansive than a one-liner, as adorable as Tyler is. My Blood is a snug blanket on a chilly night, but it’s also the sleeve of your hoodie soaking up tears before they run down your chin. It warms the soul, uplifts the spirit, and gives the emotionally dampened a reason to levitate. Josh’s performance is otherworldly. One of the myriad reasons Josh works in such perfect symbiosis with Tyler is that he drums with the same fearless movement changes and syncopation that the duo infuse into the instrumentation and vocalizations. Josh’s drumming is essential. With all due respect to the original drummer of t0p’s first iteration who did a spirited job on the self-titled album, I often imagine how much more the overall sound of the record would be enhanced by Josh’s take on those songs. We are twenty one pilots, and so are they.

I believe that the video is about dealing with loss. At the beginning of the song, it seems like the mother of the child passed away and the father is beginning to struggle with alcohol addiction, so the child creates an imaginary brother, who is taking care of him (helps with homework, makes him a sandwich, entertains him, etc.) and helps him cope with emotional distress and sense of loneliness. Even though I don´t have a brother, I share similar feelings with my cousin and I almost cried when I saw the ending. The storytelling of TØP is just too amazing and emotional, just like their songs. Loved the reaction. Hopefully, you won´t get a heart attack from Your addiction to these guys :D

I loved your reaction when he entered his house, I was actually expecting something like that. LOL! He never had a brother, after his mother passed, he created an imaginary person in his mind and he was a brother for him, like many of us create an imaginary friend when we are alone and have no friends. Also, his father didn't pay much attention as he was seen sipping his whiskey in the video.

A way I interpreted the song: Tyler was kind of meaning it in a literal way, where he doesn't want his blood to leave him. He doesn't want to die, he doesn't want to bleed anymore because of his insecurities and his struggles. He's asking himself to stay alive and "you don't have to run" because things have gotten better and there will be bad days but there's also good ones. Almost a way to remind himself how life can be good when he isn't in a good headspace and remind us of the same

I've just found your reaction videos and I am hooked. I am currently on video 23 of this 122 episode playlist.... I have a lot of old videos that may interest you (I found out about tøp in November 2012, and archived a few things lol) also have a hidden gem that you have not reacted to (I've looked at the titles). So once I reach episode 122 and if you haven't reacted to the song I'm referring to I will certainly leave a comment on your shy away reaction. Second thing is that, your passion in these videos matches the level of passion Tyler and Josh put into their art and I appreciate that so much! I watch other reaction videos and so far none have matched that level of passion or have that sense of understanding like you do, so shout out to you sir, and thank you!

The beauty of the TOP is that there is never "right" interpretation of the song and as many already comented the brother was a coping mechanism (he created a brother so he would not be alone). But that is just one of many interpretations and one of my favourites is: the brother represents TOP as a band, because they helps us go trought hard times in our life even tho they are not physicaly with us. also there is a line "Stay with me my blood, you dont need to run." some people interpret it as literal blood in our veins and the urge to harm themselfs they are trying to resist. Tyler himself once said that he is always trying to keep the story/meaning as vague as possible so a person can find the meaning they need (because you always find what youre looking for/need the most)

All worth watching your reaction when he helped his brother only to go inside the house all alone. That's the reality of those who have gone through a traumatic event in their lives. Their mental stage has left them to create another being to help them cope with whatever life throws at them either in a good way or in a bad way. Some succeed and some don't. All in all, be there for those who are in need of a shoulder to cry on or just be that loving friend, family member, stranger, etc. This world needs LOVE. #FableSquad Stay safe & stay alive.

I may be wrong but the part that says "when you're in a lions den i hold my pen and go with you" is a reference to ode to sleep in "some see a pen, i see a harpoon" and migraine in " And I know that I can fight, or I can let the lion win "symbolizing that he would help fight with the" lions "(bad thoughts or something) of that person writing a song, thank you and I hope I helped, even though it was a simple opinion , love your content! I love this song too, it makes me think of my sister just like you and your brother, we always have each other's back! But the mv is sad and trippy cause yes, he basically created a whole personnality to protect himself. And if you're interested, Tyler said that the song idea came from his first "blood" niece and that the mv idea came from different stories from his friends and family, one of them being his cousins getting in a fight after a party (just like the mv) and the older brother, who was always the calm and chill one, just stepped up and punched one the guys and knocked him out to protect his brother. That's so relatable!

The concept of that brother was his strenght , he gain the strenght after his mother die, and that is what keeping him to fight everyday and to hide the fragile side of him, as you can see in the last scene when his *brother* (referring to his strenght) was beaten by the dudes he stands out and defends it. In the end you only have your self when the real problem strikes.
