see, idk if anyone else sees it this way, but the meaning i get from this/certain parts of it are that no matter what you're going through, your problems are still 100% valid, and you shouldn't think that they aren't(a kitchen sink to you is not a kitchen sink to me-possibly implying that just because your problems are different than mine doesn't mean they don't matter) idk, but thats just my thoughts on it
@blubean53235 жыл бұрын
Lily so I like your idea and I think that this could be implied, and also this statement is 100% correct because all problems do matter, but Tyler has said that he wrote this song to give people the idea that no one sees your exact point of view and the kitchen sink part is because something very important to him happened at a kitchen sink, and so they mean something different to him. And he’s basically telling people that he’s the only one who knows, and if he were to die then no one would no, so he needs to stay alive to be the only one with that knowledge. That’s why he doesn’t reveal what happened at the sink, and also why he wrote the song

TW Weird to be back. Feels like I always end up with this song. I know everyone has their own story and I'm nobody special. Tyler's lyrics have touched us all and changed our lives. But this song in particular is the one that literally kept me from taking my own life and every time I hear it (without fail) I end up bursting into tears. I first heard this song while on the school bus. I had been planning on killing myself that day for weeks, I had everything prepared, I had all my stuff ready, I was just... totally ready. Totally prepared. I ended up not walking home that day where I knew I'd be alone, where I knew my stuff was waiting. I ended up listening to this song and wandering off to a nearby park for a few hours and listening to it on repeat and just... totally breaking down mentally. I ended up calling my oldest friend and she was so worried she immediately came to the park and just... I really wouldn't be here today if not for this song. I really mean that and it's crazy, because that was 4ish years ago. Anyway today I relapsed, but of course I found myself back here because *of course I did*. I really hope they know just how much these songs mean to us.

the chokehold this song had on my early teens is insane LMAO. i’m an adult now, i’m in college. i honestly do think twenty one pilots is a little bit cringey when i look and listen back on them, and i have way different music that i prefer to listen to nowadays when i’m having a sad or drunk rooftop moment but at the same time this shit was like ketamine when i was 13/14 and felt like life was out to get me and i got blindsighted by a tiktok and had to revisit this. this weird music was the defining album to my absolute worst nights as a kid, and now i’m getting a degree to be a teacher. i guess, if there’s anyone who is currently like i was when i was younger, tough it out. it’s rough and you feel like the world hates you, but it’s really not all bad. you’ll get through it and discover better things on the other side.

I often ask what the kitchen sink stands for. To me It holds a lot of crap. All those dirty dishes. They keep on coming, no matter how much you try. You as the kitchen sink will be full of dirty dishes. But someone forgiving steps in and washes them as soon as they come. So while you will always be full of yuck, you’ll also always be cleaned. You have to let God wash them so they don’t pile up. But He’s willing and able. That's so freeing... so freeing. Especially if maybe for Tyler, someone was willing to be that forgiveness for him in a situation while standing in the kitchen.

pov you’re me in seventh grade lying in bed at 3 am with earbuds in because you don’t want to wake anyone up and get in trouble. you keep replaying the song over and over again while crying silently. flash forward to 2020 and you’re reverting back to childhood/teenage years media to cope with being in quarantine. life got you fucked up. but at least this song is here.

I’ve been listening to TOP for about half a year now and their songs were mostly the only music I hear. I’ve played every album dozens of times again and again totally in love with the lyrics and music. It’s 2:40AM here in Korea and I’ve been looking for this for days. Now I’m getting emotional. Thanks for the upload. Whelp gotta sleep now

Okay so this just may be me throwing out a theory cause I’m depressed at 11:41 pm, but maybe Tyler feels like a kitchen sink because he’s constantly being used or something. Kitchen sinks are used a lot, maybe by putting dirty dishes in them which could be representing people telling him things like he’s not good enough or maybe his anxiety. Dirty food is also washed off in it, and eventually it clogs up with the dirty food. Maybe the sink represents his head and maybe the line “No one else is dealing with your demons, meaning maybe defeating them could be the beginning of your meaning friend” and his head is so clogged up with negative or dirty thoughts, and he just wants to turn on the garbage disposal and clear it so he can think straight but he doesn’t know how. Sorry this probably seems like a ramble but this is what was going through my head 😂

@ischristinaok4 жыл бұрын
Didar Özsönmez not trying to sound rude but if a couple people commenting a few things about coming from tiktok ruins the song for you then idk what to tell you. if that alone ruins the meaning of the song for you then reevaluate why you like the song. Like i’ve been in the clique for 6 or 7 years now and when stressed out got popular a bunch of locals came and commented cringey things and then after a while the hype died the people who were actually impacted by the music stayed in the fandom and got something out of it. And the cringey people left. It’s not a big deal, in less than a month things will go back to normal.

Music Lyrics: Nobody thinks what I think Nobody dreams when they blink Think things on the brink of blasphemy I'm my own shrink Think things are after me, my catastrophe I'm a kitchen sink You don't know what that means Because a kitchen sink to you Is not a kitchen sink to me, okay, friend? Are you searching for purpose? Then write something, yeah it might be worthless Then paint something then, it might be wordless Pointless curses, nonsense verses You'll see purpose start to surface No one else is dealing with your demons Meaning maybe defeating them Could be the beginning of your meaning, friend Go away Go away Go away Go away Leave me alone Leave me alone Leave me alone Leave me alone Leave me alone Leave me alone Leave me alone Nobody thinks what you think, no one Empathy might be on the brink of extinction They will play a game and say They know what you're going through And I tried to come up with an artistic way to say They don't know you, and neither do I So here's a prime example of a stand up guy Who hates what he believes and loves it at the same time Here's my brother and his head's screwed up But that's alright Time gains momentum the moment when I'm living in 'em I'm winning a momentary sinning a moment passing after A re-beginning moments mending memories Pretending enemies are friend of me, sending me straight to bending me My bad behavior but I bet I could have been a better man Copy and paste caught me, and copy, better rhymes bother me The better the rhythm the badder I am but I bet I'll battle with 'em battle Better I am, gambling man, better bet I am a gambling man, I am? Go away Go away Go away Go away Leave me alone Leave me alone Leave me alone Leave me alone Leave me alone Don't leave me alone Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh

I had no idea that the unofficial lyric video (the one with blurry background with water droplets) was so huge. I didn't know about much of this really. I haven't been a TØP fan for a super long time, but this song helped me through some really hard stuff. It makes me sad that I can't find that lyric video anymore, something about that picture and the font/lyrics are attached to this song now for me, and it's really weird to listen to it without that picture. That being said, it makes me really happy to find out that it was such a big deal to the TØP community, so it's not just some stupid little thing I'm sad about all by myself, but that I have other people who miss and remember it fondly, along with the memories it gave them. That's my rant🙂 I'm glad you guys exist.
