This song saved my life. I was in California for the first time away from home and my parents states away, after having been broken up with from a three year relationship for her to go to school. That was the darkest time in my life with depression and anxiety and no money because I didn’t have a job during lockdown. I found therapy in listening to tøp songs while I did Uber Eats after a little while there, and when I had to sleep in my car I would play this on repeat from the speakers (it was a Fiat 500 I was sleeping in, so it wasn’t the most comfortable) until I fell asleep. It was a reminder to stay alive, that the sun will rise and I can start tomorrow fresh. I ended up having a great time after a few months, and Scaled and Icy was the main soundtrack behind most of the memories from then. Clancy could not have come around sooner, because times are rough again and going to the second night of the tour has kept my soul fueled for weeks. My next tattoo will be my first tøp one, I cannot wait to get it but it definitely won’t be the last. Stay alive friends |-/

“The sun will rise and we will try again” 💛 ||-// 💛 “Stay alive, stay alive for me” Tyler has channeled so much of his pain into his music and transformed it into light and hope ✨ The shot of him with the piano in the middle of the road makes me think of the shots in the road in the Next Semester video. And I love the cutaways to the concert footage, but with the intimacy of his voice pulling you in.

The choice to shoot Tyler not just close up like you said Joe but looking slightly down at him I think makes him look all the more vulnerable and child like. This video always makes me feel maternal towards him!

This song just always leaves me breathless, with how raw and emotional it is. Truce is one of two songs from Vessel (along with Guns For Hands) that Tyler wrote, in response to young members of the Clique he'd spoken to, about the mental health struggles they'd been facing. He wanted to help them, and everyone who's going through darkness in their lives, by reminding them to stay alive. It's worth it. Knowing what he's been through himself, that's saying something. He's saved so many lives with his words, and I just wish I could meet him one day to thank him...
