I'm going to start my Pembroke Welsh Corgi in agility in April. She's still needs a leash because she has ADHD if you know what I mean. I don't have any training space. We have to train outside with a lot of distractions. We're working on focusing, loose leash walking, turning to the right and left, running and an occasional down with it. I'm clicker training her. She's 2 1/2 years old. Also, she can touch my hand and a target stick with her nose. Any suggestions for further training?

I think you and your Corgi will have a lot of fun! Between now and April, would it be possible to take her to a dog friendly location (park, dog friendly store, etc.) and ask her to do the things you've already taught her so she starts learning she can work in a distracting environment? I spent an entire summer with a set of 6 weave poles in my kitchen, a jump or two in my living room and a tunnel in a hallway when I was training my young dog for agility. Also encourage her to make noise while moving things with her feet (pots and pans, etc. work) to avoid her being nervous of the see-saw/teeter totter.

@@pi_beta7306 I live in a remote area. She doesn't ride well in the car. It's about equal distance from the big "towns". I can go to PetSmart. Tractor Supply in both Grayling and Gaylord. I live near the 45th parallel. My mom is 93 years old and broke her right hip. I've left her home alone to go shopping. I enrolled in Gucci in a beginner's obedience training class at PetSmart. There were just too many distractions for her. She was younger. I have some experience in clicker training. I've read books about agility. I do have some weave poles, jumps, and tunnels. Thanks for the suggestions. Our kitchen is a gallery style kitchen and there's not much room. What do you mean by using pots and pans? .

Look for a local dog club, they usually have agility and obedience classes running through the year at more affordable prices than chain pet training programs.

@@mlaiuppa lots of Corgis do agility. Betsy at Crufts several years ago was built like a Corgi and was like greased lightning!

Where were the big dogs? You had one lab. The rest were mostly border collies who I consider medium. I wanyed to see Great Danes, Rottweilers and maybe a Mastiff or Wolfhound.

Those breeds of dog aren’t well suited for agility, the jumps would be too hard on their joints
