I don’t think many people realize just how much of a perfect cash cow the pokemon IP is. It was designed to release a new generation for a new audience every few years while still keeping the old generations relevant. They’re successful and even dominant in all forms of media and collecting. They’ve essentially achieved what other popular media franchises have always wished they could achieve and their sales numbers prove it.

I had a binder of Pokemon cards as a kid(including a Charizard), and I thought it was lost due to it being at my Grandma's house and that house ended up getting runned down and broken into months after she died. A couple months ago, my aunt sees I'm collecting again and drops off... That same goddam binder. You can imagine how much joy I had seeing that Charizard.

I’m just watching this video right now and as a kid I went to summer camp and I brought some cards and I left I my pocket a mega charizard x secret and jumped into the pool. But luckily I pulled it again, and then lost it. Hate to remember it but I laugh about it

I think the holo patterns have just been so bad for so long. Black and White era had the last decent holo pattern. If they just brought back the cosmo holo I really think that would change a lot

Honestly gotta say lost origin pulls rates have been insane for me lol, I have like a 60% hit ratio per pack and have opened at least 100+ packs :O

In Japan boxes are seeded, and we have a guaranteed SR in every box. However there are some big caveats. You are guaranteed exactly one SR and if your are extremely lucky you will get two, but it is not possible to get more than two per box. Also, full arts are considered SR cards here, so a box like Jake opened, that had four full arts, would have been considered an error box (but realistically never happen). In a sense the English boxes are more exciting, because if you are not guaranteed anything but the sky is the limit.

I think the TCGPlayer and other Poketubers data is largely correct especially with the alternate art pull rates. I opened three booster boxes and no alternate art. I did get one good box with 2 secret rares and the Pikachu VMAX card though. It's a tough set. People are more apt to post their major hits than their major failures. I'm 252 packs in and no alt and I will give up after i get rest of my product. Not worth it

Me and the misses have opened roughly 150 packs and no alt arts and only 2 V character rares. She ended up just buying me the reds vmax pikachu and we both agreed to stop buying lost origin and only get singles until the next set drops.

I’ve honestly had decent LO pulls for the most part. 8-9 hits in each box not including Trainer gallery/radiants in all except once (I had a really lousy box with only 6 hits. Best box I’ve had had the alt art Giratina, regular Giratina VSTAR, Gold Dark Patch, and the Pikachu VMAX.

My experience with Lost origins has been great!! No alt art but my last box I had 2 full art trainers, 1 rainbow trainer and 1 gold card. Along with 5 TG cards, all 3 radiants, 1 full art V and 4 regular V's.

Lost origin has good pull rates. It’s just the alt arts and like three other chase cards that are hard to find. Which is how a set should be.

First of all, that Akari Pikachu is definitely by far the best Pikachu artwork of the year in my opinion! It was my chase card for Dark Phantasma and was so happy that I pulled it! Looks so nice displayed with the rest of my collection! And second, I for one am not disappointed with the Trick or Trade packs themselves, rather I'm more disappointed that I CAN'T EVEN FIND ANY! At least not in my area! And I ain't paying no $30+ for cards that are worth no more a freaking Snicker bar!🤣

For my first lost origins booster box, i bought two. 1 for myself and the other for my girlfriend. No thoughts when i handed her the 2nd booster box. First 2 packs she opens alt art Giratina and trainer gallery pikachu vmax alt art. Bittersweet haha....😅

My buddy and I went in on a case to split 3 boxess each. One of his he got the Aerodactyl Alt Art. One if mine had the Giritina V alt art. we could not be happier lol.

Amazing box! Truly some nice luck! I am kind of upset that they decided to lower the alt art rates in this set. I'm not sure if comparing to fusion was right. Fusion has 9 Alt arts. Though I can agree they are hard to pull. At least with fusion you have more chances. Great video btw!!

Can’t speak for anyone else but my pull rates have been absolutely insane for Lost Origin!! As for the BOOster product… I don’t see why there’s any disappointment around it. It’s supposed to be just a fun, holiday themed product… For trick or treaters. Emphasis on FUN!!

that box was twice as good as mine. I only pulled 3 TG cards and not many of my personal chases. but then I hit the alt art garatina from a triple blister and it made it all better 😎

You have to get extremely lucky to pull those Alt Art cards. 300+ packs later….I finally pulled my first Alt Art from Lost Origin. 😜🤪 This getting expensive really fast. 😂

My BB was very similar, 2 full arts, several trainer galleries and regular V's, a Vstar, and some radiants. No secret rares or alts either. But it was still fun! It would be hard to go back to a set without pulls in the reverse slot.

I've opened quite a bit of this set and some boxes were just stacked with hits while others were like pulling teeth. It's just random like always. I feel like people are more upset about the tough alt art pull rates but that's how it should be, they are chase cards and shouldn't be easy to pull.

So agree that kids and adults liking Pokemon is one of the secrets to its success. Indeed, I’m into it because of my 9 now 10 year old son. Ha, he has the passion and I have the money. Reasonable forecast for the future but I won’t expect it and will just keep enjoying it like you do.

I bought 2 booster boxes of Lost Origin and no alt art, then a couple days later pulled the Rotom V alt art from a random single booster pack I picked up at the grocery store. It’s not the Giratina, but still a very cool card.

They do it to keep the drive of value of cards in the Pokémon community. The OG base cards will ALWAYS hold value because they are OG. Having cards that are INSANE to pull. You are sure to keep the drive,hype, and value of the card game alive. I actually dig it that it’s hard to get these cards!

I've seen a few people open cases of booster box's and only see 2 secret rares out of those 6 box's. Definitely crazy I also saw a streamer go 17 booster box's without a secret rare which blows my mind

Oh man on release day I saw a streamer open 23 booster boxes before they finally got 1, the Aero Alt. Insane. They did 9 more the next day and got 2, Perrserker and Giratina. Thankful it took me 3 BB to get 1, my boxes without were still pretty stacked with hits the trainer gallery is such a good addition.

Question about collecting sealed products. I was wondering if it is worth it to collect the products from Sams and Costco because they are usually a good deal for what they are and they are usually exclusive or are in a exclusive bundle.

The new collection box from sam’s club with 14 booster packs is a must have for sealed collections imo, the packs inside will only go up in value over time, it has evolving skies, brilliant stars, fusion strike, chilling reign, etc. most of the swsh era sets, it’s also only 40$ so for 14 packs it’s a sweet deal rn

Hate to burst your bubble but there was only about a week where evolving skies got anywhere close to MSRP. Since the reprint it has actually gone up from where it was before the reprint. About 160/180, to 145/155, to close to 200 now and selling consistently.

Just got in a sealed box of 6 booster boxes of lost origin.. opened the first one and the pulls were insane.. not only did I get a secret rare, but I got 3 secret rares and the secret rare mew from the trainer gallery. That’s not all.. two radiant cards, 1 vmax…1 full art v, one full art trainer.. 2 additional trainer gallery…1 Giratina v star…and 4 regular v… where can I post a photo of this…

I know others have been complaining but so far Lost Origin has been the best set for my openings thus far. My two Costco Evolving Skies ETBs were absolute bust, one Lycanroc VMAX and a few holos from 16 packs is way worse than Lost Origins hit rates lol.

1 alternate art would be bad tbh, has to be something to chase for people to open the boxes, and to keep the value of the cards. Fair enough if you wanna tweak the numbers abit, but to give lets say an alternate art per booster box that just seems silly to me.

I find it hard to believe that the PKMN company is not able to guarantee certain pulls in a day and age where card games like keyforge exist. I think down the road regulation regarding pull rates will come to place and we will finally see some transparency from the Pokemon Company. Similar to what happened to loot boxes in the EU

Love the Halloween cards I got some myself also love lost origin set to be honest I HOPE the pull rates stay low for this set it's a very good set lots of art work and tons of good pokemon but ya I bought the mini booster box's 4 of them and pulled giratina v ALT ART 😍😍😍😍😍 I was very shocked because I pulled 2 trainer gallery cards and a radiant card before that and then I got to my last pack and it had a reverse Holo so I figured I had nothing good but then pulled the very best card sooo happy only 53 packs it took me

I have had so much luck with single packs in evo skies and lost origin. Pulled Moonbreon, Rayquaza Vmax Alt Art, and Sylveon Vmax Alt Art from Gamestop singles. My luck with the booster box doesnt seem to compete. Single packs all the way!

I opened a Lost Origin booster box and didn’t pull not one Girantina card. Not one. Two weeks later. Went to GameStop brought a couple blister packs. The first pack I opened up had the Girantina V Alt card. Crazier thing is my cousin pulled one the same day from the same store. His came from the booster bundle. Still looking for the Pikachu Vmax trainer gallery. Love this set. Gonna go ham on the silver tempest set.

Jake i’m thinking of buying a master set of Hidden fates as i missed it during my long break from the hobby. Its just such a cool set. I’m aiming for £850-900. Will this be a good investment? What are the chances this set will decline or grow in price?

Most people only want the top cards from Hidden Fates ie the Charizard GX, Umbreon GX, etc. So if your goal is value I would just pick those up. A master set should be more of a personal collection

If you’re doing it for the money, the hobby isn’t for you. I mainly open booster boxes not expecting much except for getting cards with some decent arts. Trying to turn it into a money game is just a bad idea and the worse way to gamble your money.

Talking about the evolving sky’s pull rates, my luck has been extremely good. I’ve gotten alt art umbreon vmax and alt art espeon v in probably 30 or so packs all of them sleeved booster packs. That’s where I think best odds are or maybe just my bullshit logic making me think that idk but worked for me

Lol I opened 12 3 pack blisters and got the Umbreon vmax alt and 2 leafeon vmax alts and a rainbow gordie, in my next 12 3 pack blisters I got Sylveon vmax alt, rainbow vmax Umbreon, glaceon, and dracozolt, it was so early into my collecting that I didn’t realise how insanely lucky that was

I think people are mad about the pull rates because it’s a pot of disappointment from not pulling alt arts from past sets and now it’s getting harder from this new set that it just sent people over the edge. I think this set has great pull rates for the lower priced cards from my own experience but I can see how other people would be fed up not getting the high ticket cards then being told it’s only harder in this set than previous sets. Especially since there isn’t many expensive cards like evolving skies to pull.
