I’ve never sat down to watch any of the movies but I think I’ve watched the entire franchise purely through reaction content from men! It’s so funny watching them at first take the piss, then slowly start to get invested- it’s incredibly endearing! I also enjoyed Cosmonaut Variety Hours reaction. So funny!

@@Darth-Lesbian I read the books in Middle School, and then watched all the movies when I was 13 or so, with my then best friend, and my mum's Godson, who's 6mo older than me. We were already watching it sort of ironically, and then he said it was stupid, yet stayed to watch a bit. He watched the whole thing with us. Over ten years later now, I still look back on it with fondness, even if I've since realised how horribly written everything is and how Steph hit every single red flag she could. Still, the first movie has immaculate vibes.

I like how this has become a cult classic, even if it perpetuated the romantisizing of toxic relationships. 28:01 It's not OK, though as someone who was once a teenager on the internet, I can see how this movie/scenario took over the minds of girls and women alike. (Starting the darker fantasy stuff to come back; I'm talking '365 days' to Fifty shades to Werewolf fiction.) When it's fiction, people sometimes dismiss or don't realize how creepy stuff can sound if you're not 'rooting' or invested in the main character or story. Like my aunt used to rave about the final scene in the final book and how amazingly romantic it was.

Her cultural/religious upbringing as a mormon informs much of the story, character's choices, and the themes she's trying to tackle, but the way she intends them is never how they end up being interpreted.
