Weirdly enough. In the first movie at least (because I read the books but can't for the life of me remember the writing style) Bella seemed like a fairly normal teenage girl. Her character did become extremely bland thereafter but I blame the fan base. Kirsten Stewart is quite enjoyable in more indie films. Also it's far easier for people to impose themselves on the lead character when they're blank as shit.

Minerva A as someone who read all the books at least twice, it was because she wasn’t like other girls there. In the books it’s revealed how he can’t read her mind, she also doesn’t drool over Edward and try to impress him in the ways other girls at the school does, some of the other girls also are scared of him or mock him and she is just her normal awkward self around him. She shows resilience and bravery around him and she’s also a mystery to him bc of her scent and lack of hearing her thoughts... she’s definitely attractive to him in every way lol

And you must be talking about a different character because Bella Swan is neither resilient nor brave. Yeah, the movies are worse than the books and it's all I remember now of the story. Would not read them again, though. But here's a funny story. I think Twilight actually saved my Master's degree. My professor in Anthroplogy decided that he wanted to know what the Vampire hype was all about and so did a seminar on the topic. It was actually pretty interesting. We talked about Twilight as well and I really felt like I was just ranting about the movie the whole time. When I wrote my essay (on Hotel Transsilvania) for the course, I nearly failed. And it was a course I needed to pass to actually be allowed to start writing my Master's thesis. My professor let me pass because he felt like I had participated a lot in all the discussions, which, again, to me felt like I was just trash talking Twilight. Well, there you go :D

One thing I never understood is they left to "protect" Bella.. BUT THEY LITERALLY LEFT HER TO BE HUNTED BY VICTORIA! I've never been a fan of the Twilight Saga, but as far as I know, this exact problem has even been treated in the movies and books with the "Immortal Children". Children that were turned into vampires. They never developed rational thinking, because all aging stops when you get turned, and just followed their childish needs, which was the reason why it was made a crime to create them. That's why I thought the same could apply to Edward.
