It's like malon's spirit is singing into the night, calling for the hero of time who still cannot rest until he teaches link so he can protect himself, the ones who loves, and all of hyrule. Its melancholic but i think she's also giving this link some comfort in the lonely night and watching over him since this link is most likely related to the hero of time by blood. This was a beautiful cover.

Ah, so sweet. I especially like the way you tease us before the background strings come in, the subtle weaving in of Midna's theme, and the enhanced use of "natural" noise at the start and finish.

Hyrule Field Night always felt so bittersweet to me. It is haunting, from Malon's voice to how it becomes stuck in your head. And yet, in spite of this ghostly nature, it brings comfort, a comfort you would not want to risk losing so you would rather stay in a safe area, pausing your controller for a bit, than go meet the monsters that will disrupt this beautiful melody. I believe it is a wonderful reflection of our human condition... Reverie, dreams, they lie in the night and are known to be illusory -- reality is so close to us, so close to grabbing us... In fact, this lovely melody of the night does not favor reality or idealism; it is a perfect, beautiful mixture of both. The pleasure to rest for a bit, to yield to your imagination in awareness of reality surrounding you, haunting you, and it is actually what makes this moment of solitude and tranquility so beautiful and so unique, for it will not last forever and you need to seize it while you still can. Your orchestral remix is one of the most brilliant tributes to this wonderful piece. Thank you, Rebecca!
@RebeccaETripp2 жыл бұрын
Thank you as well. I really love what you wrote! That is such a beautiful description of our collective relationship with night vs day, reality vs dreams, hope vs fear, etc. This song - the original, but I think I also furthered this, perhaps - among various other ideas, reflects a liminal state of consciousness. I think that's what makes it so relaxing. It's not so "positive" as to be saccharine, shallow, or alienating, but it's also gentle, kind and organic. It's like an old, unseen friend, always present, but rarely observed.
@pocowi31842 жыл бұрын
@@RebeccaETripp and thank YOU for this lovely answer! I think the idea of liminal state of consciousness is a great way to define this song’s atmosphere and you did further it! The analogy with an old friend is very interesting as well; there is definitely a feeling of nostalgia conveyed through the song, which certainly comes from - as you said - our relationship with night and day, but also reality and dreams, hope and fear; it is something we carry from birth to death, and it is what makes the human experience so beautiful in the end.

@RebeccaETripp3 жыл бұрын
I certainly hope so! I'm very excited to discover what music will be in the game. I've been toying with the idea of doing a cover of the night theme for BotW as well, on a related note!
@joonashanninen89193 жыл бұрын
@@RebeccaETripp Yeah botw's soundtrack is surreal, in many ways it's so slow, plain and limited, yet every piano note hits my very soul! It's so strange, the composers are geniuses maybe? For botw2, I hope we get to see Ganondorf who has complicated personality and backstory to spice up the game. Dark themes similar to majora's mask included perhaps..
