Hey wow, no offense but I went into this expecting the worst. There's a certain hubris that a lot of "I enhanced the soundtrack to this classic game" people have. This is absolutely not that! This is so incredibly well done. Every track really captures what made the originals so good and helps it shine.
@kiyoaki1985 Жыл бұрын
I agree with the sentiment. A lot of "remixes" and "enhancements" go overboard with instruments and very often throw in a pointless bridge section or guitar solo or something. I want to hear the songs as they are, maybe with different instrumentation or a few effects, but no changes to the melody, this does that pretty well.

It's a bitter sweet joy listening to the music. Brings back certain memories of my teenage years. Especially the time of 1997 when I was 14. That was the time you could see the comet Hale-Bopp in the sky. I played this game with a friend I went to school with. We had no instructions or guide about the game hence it came as a surprise when we thought we had beaten the game but it suddenly turned into the Dark World. We played a lot of games at that time. Zelda, Secret of Mana and the Street Fighter II series were our favorites. These games are adventurous, touching - and from a nostalgic perspective that I have now - touching in a verry personal way . At the beginning of 1998 my friend moved away and we never saw each other again. Now 23 years have past and every now and then I wonder how he did in life, where's he at right now... So every now and then I look up stuff like this video on KZbin and bathe in memories.

I'm the same exact way. I played this with a good friend at his house. I was only 13 in 1997 though. And yeah we played all the different versions of Street Fighter II too. Only in my case, I'm the one who moved out of the state. I visited him every so often but joined the military when I was 18. I last saw him was when I visited in 2004.

Sometimes you forget that amongst all the vitriol, trying to get the top comment by being as snarky and clever as possible, and the belittling, dehumanizing, graceless arguing... That many of the comments on KZbin are from broken, hurting people... each with their own pains and stories. What a revelation it could be if we would all remember and treat one another with grace... Here's hoping that someday, you can reconcile with your friend. I can think of a few people I pray that God would let me reconcile with someday too.

Maybe they would recreate the aesthetic of A Link Between Worlds, but seeing as the game would be on Switch and not 3DS, they could probably push the graphical capabilities so much further. I for one would like to see them try something new with the art style. That being said...I almost would prefer to see the Oracle games remade into a one ultimate experience on the Switch first. A Link to the Past is very much playable and enjoyable in its original form and on the SNES app on the Switch. In fact, it's the most easily playable port of a Zelda game on the Switch! The only other two ports on the system are The Legend of Zelda and The Adventure of Link, and those are both a bear to play. The 2D games that followed the Oracle games are all easier to play and look at than those Gameboy Color ones.

Everyone take about how amazing the zelda ost’s are but everyone sleeps on the Great Fairy Fountain/File Selection themes. Its so underrated, peaceful, and calming. That song puts me in some crazy deep thoughts when im stressed.

I find the Menu Select / Fairy themes to be really heart breaking. Brings to my mind the idea of a little candle in a storm, or of a baby with a lot of potential in front of them. Delicate and helpless on its own.

Check the MSU-1 Hacks Database section of the Zeldix forums (youtube will delete this on me if I include a link...), there's already a MSU mod for Super Metroid with 8 or so different PCM sets.

Can't believe it, every track is enriched with just the right pinch of higher fidelity synth, subtle distortion for mystic parts, and sparing chord changes to hit certain feels harder. Your discernment and judgment is really mature, respect.

It’s too bad that the song “The Sanctuary” is too overlooked in the Zelda series. It has a melancholily, mysterious, and even creepy vibe but has the feeling of peace and nostalgia. 9:16

25:55 The background melody of Dark World being much louder and easier to hear makes it soooooo much better. I always loved how much it complemented the main melody but it was always so hard to hear since the volume for it was really low.

The whistle/flute type instrument in credits is incredibly well done. Also, not paying attention to the description and such, I thought this was an official remake of the soundtrack. Speaks to the quality of it for sure.

Hey, you did the source material justice. Loving the extra low end depth and note sustain that the higher quality string samples add. Been playing the game the past few days using the PCMs, they really enhance the whole atmosphere. Thank you dude.

You know it's good when on most of the soundtrack you question if they actually remastered anything at all. The Prologue track I thought for sure was untouched until I pulled up the original and was blown away at how you managed to make it sound like the equivalent of getting water out of your ears This is so well made man I hope this lands you a good job.
@SMALLSandJOE3 жыл бұрын
This is shockingly phenomenal. I love it so much, you did a fantastic job :) Kakariko Village theme always brings me close to tears, this cover was no exception. And I cannot get over how great the Dark Golden World cover here is too! Feels amazing. I don't think I can give this enough praise in just one comment. Well done. I'm beyond happy that this exists. Also, I've come back to this video so many times, I'm surprised I'm just now commenting lol!

The prologue could easily be a sum up song for my 90's childhood, full of SNES cartridges, playing in my brother's room, sitting on the floor in front of that small rounded-shaped TV

Tremendous job keeping the SNES sounds but making is sound more modern. Definitely sounds like I felt it sound when I first played it all those years ago.
@twally872 жыл бұрын
I think the biggest difference is the bass sounds are higher fidelity. The SNES took shortcuts with its sound chip and there were fewer bits for lower frequencies in order to save space. Composers approximated a lot of sounds that would typically come from double bass, tubas, etc.

The whole OST is good, but I have to commend you for making the perfect HD remake of the menu music, the fairy theme. No matter how many iterations of Zelda that come out, that is the OG Fairy Theme, and this is the creme de la creme version IMO.

@bobmalibaliyahmarley15513 жыл бұрын
@MHzBurglar I actually forgot about his brown hair in the concept art! Also.. If you look at Link's clothes in the in-game model, you can clearly see that his hat is the standard issue ''Link's green tunic hat'', but the clothes on his body looks more like some sort of lighter green robe with some markings or inscriptions on it-- I think it's different in the concept art, but his in-game model clothes except the hat is clearly different from his standard issue ''green tunic'' sort of thing, take a look at it and tell me what you think he's wearing. xD

Here is one of my all time favorite videogame theme ever. I literally skipped directly to dark golden land theme, and i can say without a doubt this is the best rendition i've heard of it. It's to the point, no extra stuff added, no weird instruments, no tempo variations. It's like listerning directly to the game in instrumental form. This. Is. Freaking. Perfect.
@RenoCocoa3 жыл бұрын
I also directly skipped to that theme and got instantly disappointed. While it sounds amazing in its own rights it just lacked the oomph that the original had, which was one of the main selling points to me. I could bop my head to the beat and hum to the melody. Here the beat just feels watered down in comparison due to the weaker drums.
