Hey wow, no offense but I went into this expecting the worst. There's a certain hubris that a lot of "I enhanced the soundtrack to this classic game" people have. This is absolutely not that! This is so incredibly well done. Every track really captures what made the originals so good and helps it shine.
@kiyoaki1985 Жыл бұрын
I agree with the sentiment. A lot of "remixes" and "enhancements" go overboard with instruments and very often throw in a pointless bridge section or guitar solo or something. I want to hear the songs as they are, maybe with different instrumentation or a few effects, but no changes to the melody, this does that pretty well.

It's a bitter sweet joy listening to the music. Brings back certain memories of my teenage years. Especially the time of 1997 when I was 14. That was the time you could see the comet Hale-Bopp in the sky. I played this game with a friend I went to school with. We had no instructions or guide about the game hence it came as a surprise when we thought we had beaten the game but it suddenly turned into the Dark World. We played a lot of games at that time. Zelda, Secret of Mana and the Street Fighter II series were our favorites. These games are adventurous, touching - and from a nostalgic perspective that I have now - touching in a verry personal way . At the beginning of 1998 my friend moved away and we never saw each other again. Now 23 years have past and every now and then I wonder how he did in life, where's he at right now... So every now and then I look up stuff like this video on KZbin and bathe in memories.

I'm the same exact way. I played this with a good friend at his house. I was only 13 in 1997 though. And yeah we played all the different versions of Street Fighter II too. Sometimes you forget that amongst all the vitriol, trying to get the top comment by being as snarky and clever as possible, and the belittling, dehumanizing, graceless arguing... That many of the comments on KZbin are from broken, hurting people... each with their own pains and stories. What a revelation it could be if we would all remember and treat one another with grace... Here's hoping that someday, you can reconcile with your friend. I can think of a few people I pray that God would let me reconcile with someday too.

When I was five, I suffered a really bad concussion that left me in the hospital for a few days. A year or so later, I was contacted by a medical school for cognitive testing, where they would assess how early head trauma affected brain development. I had no idea why at the time (and for the record, my only lasting damage was regular migraines), but they would give me $50 for doing it. After the first test, my mom took me to Toys'R'Us and told me I could pick any game I wanted. I could barely read, but a gold box with a battered sword and shield caught my eye. That was my choice, and to this day, A Link to the Past is still one of my top five games of all time. Thank you for this musical update! Nowadays the vast majority of fans agree in giving Ocarina of Time the position of the best Zelda game of all time. However I am not in that select group, for me, at the age of 12, from the moment I turned on the SNES with the prologue, reading in my barely understandable English (as you can see it's not my native language) and starting with that rain scene, it became the best game that my eyes had ever seen. Of course Zelda evolved and has had great games, but in my heart this will always be the best of all, for its charisma, music, charm, difficulty and story.

I messed around with it a bit as a younger kid, but finally as a younger teen buckled down and committed to beating it, which I eventually did. It was easy to feel like nobody as a kid. When you played this game, though, you were important, you were a hero (especially to a girl), and you mattered. I find the Menu Select / Fairy themes to be really heart breaking. Brings to my mind the idea of a little candle in a storm, or of a baby with a lot of potential in front of them. Delicate and helpless on its own.

Hey, you did the source material justice. Loving the extra low end depth and note sustain that the higher quality string samples add. Been playing the game the past few days using the PCMs, they really enhance the whole atmosphere. Thank you dude.

25:38 and 35:28 - *Sigh* such memories washing over me right now. I'm almost in tears. I loved that time in my childhood. I borrowed Zelda 3 from two of my best friends, brothers who were so busy with music and other activities that they did not play Nintendo very much. But they made a good allowance on cutting grass and other chores, they usually bought a lot of good games for SNES. I played Zelda 3 so much. I admit, I even cheated with the Super Game Genie. But it was SO much fun. The music will always be a favorite part of the Zelda games for me.

The whistle/flute type instrument in credits is incredibly well done. Also, not paying attention to the description and such, I thought this was an official remake of the soundtrack. Speaks to the quality of it for sure.

Here is one of my all time favorite videogame theme ever. I literally skipped directly to dark golden land theme, and i can say without a doubt this is the best rendition i've heard of it. It's to the point, no extra stuff added, no weird instruments, no tempo variations. It's like listerning directly to the game in instrumental form. This. Is. Freaking. Perfect.
@RenoCocoa3 жыл бұрын
I also directly skipped to that theme and got instantly disappointed. While it sounds amazing in its own rights it just lacked the oomph that the original had, which was one of the main selling points to me. I could bop my head to the beat and hum to the melody. Here the beat just feels watered down in comparison due to the weaker drums.

I can remember... I rented this game when I was 5 or 6, as the Knight'ish feeling of the cover got me. Most probably my dad was member of that videoclub because I recall having it rented for a long while (maybe I just played until my eyes burnt and I was told to stop, too). I knew nothing about english language back then. I managed to get to the dark world before he had to return the cartridge. Played the game again when I was ~16. Had to translate some dialogues to get to dark world, but managed to finish the game. Man... it felt good, like I completed an achievement for life itself. We did not care for graphics nor realistic moves, we just had fun with our friends in original stories and new places, and shared our tricks to get past dungeons. I miss this simpler times.

You know it's good when on most of the soundtrack you question if they actually remastered anything at all. The Prologue track I thought for sure was untouched until I pulled up the original and was blown away at how you managed to make it sound like the equivalent of getting water out of your ears This is so well made man I hope this lands you a good job.
