Twilight…my goodness you were a chore to get to. It remains to be seen whether or not Sunset is even worse, but Twilight easily has the worst and most angering behavior to follow between Brambleclaw and Ashfur’s different aggressions and invasions, and even the cheesy Leafpool and Crowfeather romance that that this book is known for is barely shown, instead giving more and more screentime to pointless side quests and aggressive acts that will never be recognized or apologized for in the narrative. It was not a good time.

Oh wow, I hadn't known Vicky was aware of her cancer so early on -- for whatever reason, I thought that she learned it much later? That DOES give a lot more power to the meta reason why Cinderpelt keeps it from Leafpool, though I wish it had been a terminal illness as opposed to being killed by a badger so it wouldn't feel as if StarClan is just shrugging their shoulders in disquiet (perhaps that would've hit too close to home, however). I feel like a lot more could've been done with this book to build on the political fallout of Starlight + adjusting to the lake territories as a whole. As much as I love more focus being placed on the characters in a series where they seem to often fall by the wayside, this seemed more like an exercise in frustration, jerking themselves in a circle with little progress being made. The second arc's second half should've been focused on reshaping clan dynamics and political intrigue, but maybe that's just the poli-sci nerd in me complaining. Ah, well. At least there's only one book left. PS: I love how you drew Squilf holding her tail as if she's kneading it in anxiety -- showing a lot of personality in just a small action!

Part of me wonders if Cinderpelt's reincarnation was because she accepted that she was dying? Like a secret character test? I'm imagining now that multiple cats get visited before they're about to die and most of them either try and fight fate or complain or lash out or something, whereas Cinderpelt accepted it gracefully and still did what she could for her Clan? One thing that bothers me is the lack of attention on poor Sootfur. He died in the same battle she did, but only Rainwhisker cared, and he was gone by the next arc! Why couldn't Molekit be named Sootkit instead, after the other family member who died that night? (Plus, it would've given them an excuse to not just the kit off, especially if he was Rainwhisker's apprentice, which is very likely given that he was the only available mentor at the time who didn't get an apprentice later in that same arc...) Of all the books in New Prophecy this is the one I remember the least about, to the point where I always think the badger fight is at the end of Midnight. I think I repressed all the love drama. It's always been a pet peeve trope of mine and Warriors handles it very poorly. When Leafpool and Crowfeather got mentioned in Po3 I had to remind myself that, oh yeah, that WAS a thing that happened...

When I read this book I justified Brambleclaw’s behavior as him being influenced by his brother and father. Pumping up his ego to the point that he thinks he is acting deputy when he certainly is not. Just my assumption as Brambleclaw’s pov doesn’t confirm him being negatively influenced at such a level.

When it comes to the badger attack, I always thought that if the badgers had been living in Thunderclan's new camp and Thunderclan drove them away so they could use hollow as their own camp, it would just make more sense than just having a random badger attack out no where

Aw bell nah 🔔 I'm almost done with the book and this whole time I thought that WAS the issue?? Not the thunderclan camp specifically cause they didn't scent too many badgers BUT other clans admit they'd seen badger sets too. I just assumed the clans took over their territory and that's why they attacked

I somehow managed to skip, or not pay attention to the end of the prologue where it's said the cat wakes up at the MoonPool, i thought it was StarClan welcoming the cat after they died! i would have been much more shocked when Cinderpelt died, but ofc someone spoiled it to me, yet still i had a good 30 minute break crying. It was so heartbreaking to see Cinderpelts energy slowly draining away, and being so hopeless when Leafpool left, since she thought the clan will be left without a Medicine cat, that's kind of the point i would have probably realized she was going to pass, if it wasn't the spoiler D:

Strangely I always hated Starlight more than Twilight, I have worse memories of that. Like, I don't hate any other warrior cats books, but I always remember Starlight as having the most love-triangle drama which made me angry on behalf of both Bramble and Squilf. Both of them were immature and I think it's unfair to put either of them as victims, they both sucked. I think I have fond memories of Twilight because of the badger attack being so impactful for me.
