Hi, when i saw this many years ago i thought they were in a trash can. Now i realise they are in a donations / gift container I never understood why the garbage bin was so clean inside at the time for a street garbage bin ( which it was not ) The ballet girl is so pretty, all the actors were very cultured and well spoken The clown at time seems like the inspiration of the joker, then he sounds like a professsor / philosopher Bagpipes - screaming banshees on heat Now it is like the after hours where the "plastic figures" get a brief chance at real life

Morgan Freeman said it best in Shashank first you hate the walls, then you get use to them eventually you depend on them, major being the one that hates them the hobo and Ballet dancer use to them, and the bag pipper and clown depend on it so they were probably here first.

As with the Buster Keaton episode that preceded this one, we have another actor who made a notable guest starring role in Star Trek TOS - the Major, William Windom, played Commodore Decker in "The Doomsday Machine". Per the Twilight Zone Companion, the dolls in the final closing shot were actually full-sized mannequins; a life mask was made for each of the actors and then painted to look like a doll. The completed heads were then placed on the mannequin bodies; this gave them an uncanny valley creepiness that really helped to cap off the episode.

Girl, pipes can be so great. The Highland Widow's Lament from Wicker man is a favorite of mine. Or Shipping up to Boston by Snake Charmer and the Goddesses of Bagpipe. So worth a quick listen.
