I have not given The Twilight Zone much consideration. Now, in light of Ric’s commentaries, I’ll have to. By the way, the other headline - “Strong Opposition to Tax Proposal” - is still relevant.

Great catch, and great theory, Rick! I would love it if the producers/directors ACTUALLY made it that way, and were waiting for someone (like you) to discover the newspaper. I actually think it was budgetary.. Why make another newspaper when the prop master can just go to the CBS/Twilight Zone prop room and pick up "a newspaper." Maybe they had a few there and that was the first one on the stack. No one was expecting anyone to discover it in the days of low definition broadcast television. I love "Time Enough at Last.." Starring the multi-talented Burgess Meredith, a Twilight Zone veteran.

I have noticed that among other things in different episodes. Here’s my theory. First of all, Mr. Bemis looks at the newspaper at lunchtime and it’s daylight. The nuclear holocaust happens on his lunch hour so later that evening, the small town crook would’ve not been able to see the newspaper as the city would’ve been destroyed. It’s just merely reusing a prop that nobody even gave a consideration to. I’ve noticed many twilight zone episodes where the street scenes are the same. That is in the small town setting of monsters are due on Maple Street, stop over in a quiet town, and even the episode where the individual could not find anybody around and was actually an astronaut in a test facility with his mind playing games on him. I think it’s called where’s everybody?

Cool video; good catch. I really enjoy these types of videos that show repurposed props or locations appearing in other productions. In the 1943 movie Cabin In The Sky, there is a night club called Jim Henry's Paradise. The outdoor sign later shows up in 2 Twilight Zone episodes: Execution & Printer's Devil

Hmm, never noticed that, but then the TVs didn't have great resolution in the 1980s when I was a keen eyed lad. It's interesting to ponder: maybe that street vendor's ability went away and as a result, the H-bomb went off.

Nice to dream about that possibility but it was more than likely that the producers of TZ were saving $$ in re-using props from episode to episode. You might be surprised to find that same newspaper or other props showing up in other shows as well.

I liked the one about the guy giving people what they needed.. the woman a book of matches.. and a phone number to a talent agency.. giving her a new job.. :-) as well as a Bus ticket to get her there. .. As for the second guy.. he got new shoes.. with slick soles.. but it was not really what he wanted.. but the guy with the box.. wanted.. to get him 'out of his life'..

I've seen every episode numerous times. I did notice that newspaper in Time Enough...don't remember if I did or not in 2nd one. But I don't think so. I thought it was so cool because it basically announced what was in fact going to happen that day. Just freaked me out. He didn't even look at it. And yea. It never surprises me that they use the same props over different episodes.

Plot holes are a common thing in the entertainment industry. Whether they are intentional or not is up to the producer/Director. Maybe even can be blamed on the editing department. Back to the future three was a good example of a plot that could’ve blown the whole storyline if you were following the other two episodes. in a quick observation, remember, the DeLorean got shot with an arrow and all the fuel leaked out. They couldn’t get it running so they put the DeLorean on the train track and used a steam locomotive to push it up to 88 mph. In reality, all had to do was go back to the cave where he put the DeLorean in the first place, it was only there for a week at that time in 1885. I just use that DeLorean after swapping the time circuits that were damaged on the original DeLorean to the one thatbrought back from 1955. With that you would’ve had no train, no, Clara, and pretty much they would’ve went home and that would’ve been the end of the movie.

Through the Ricknineg channel, you give us memories, you give us laughter, you give us love, you give us hope, and you give us ways to broaden our minds and our perspectives! Reminds me of Pulp Fiction with interrelated stories that each have a different protagonist and are told out of chronological order. But although Serling was a genius i have a feelin the prop newspaper was just a coincidence. Also at 3:12 that's Arlene Martel who also played the creepy morgue nurse and flight attendant of the doomed airliner in the Twilight Zone Episode called > 'Twenty Two' Is she perhaps a succubus (female demon)? Sort of a female version of Randall Flagg in the Stephen King novels.

I just watched an old Twilight Zone episode the other day and the Gangster in the episode looked into a mirror in his Hotel Room and said the exact same thing. I bet Deniro is taking credit for something he saw on the Twilight Zone when he was younger.

Love catching prop re-uses (there are many), bloopers, anachronisms, etc. Here is one from “What You Need.” Right before they cut to the first commercial, watch the smoke from Fred Renard’s cigarette at the bar. The film is running backward and the smoke is going back into his cigarette. I have not found many folks who have caught that blooper.

That same basic newspaper with the identical banner was featured a lot back then. I was born in 1958 and well remember the Burgess Meredith episode. I always loved to read and the ending was so unexpected! I felt his pain and lauded in bed unable to sleep thinking of the irony. I’m sure the Newspaper was intentional. Rod Serling was a genius!
@MrEsMysteriesMagicks
@MrEsMysteriesMagicks 3 ай бұрын
Absolutely ridiculous theory. First of all, the newspaper in the second episode is shown so briefly that it's almost impossible to read it. If Serling had wanted us to "connect" the episodes, he would have made it more obvious. He was a goid enough scrjptwriterto know that the audience would need more than a fleeting glimpse of an obscure clue to fathom some deep meaning. They simply used the same newspaper in the second show because it was already available and they didn't have to pay for printing up a new one. In the old Andy Griffith Show, there's an episode where Aunt Bea learns to drive. Several episodes.later, Barney comes back to visit from his big job in Raleigh. He pulls into town in his new wheels (a secondhand Edsel 😂😂). His car has the exact same license plate that Aunt Bea's car had earlier. By your logic, Barney stole Aunt Bea's car and illegally used her plate. Sorry, but you're making way more out of this than is necessary. It was a simple production budget decision and nothing more.

I do greatly recall both episodes, but the only thing I did notice about the newspaper (when Burgess Meredith held it) is the lack of a date (month, day, and year) on the newspaper itself - years back, I actually looked for it as I was curious if the newspaper date would closely correspond with the actual initial airing of the episode. If you look closely, you will see that In the place where the date normally appears, it simply says "Published Daily." Was this Mr. Serling's way of reminding us of the "timelessness" of the Twilight Zone?
