Again a very nice video. A few notes: the 140 series also used the SU HIF6. I would also have liked a few notes on the different intake manifolds used in combination with the twin carburetor setups.

I should indeed have mentioned the B18 140's, I left it implied only I think! Or do you reckon the B20 140 had SU's also? Very good point about manifolds - another quickie video needed I feel! Thanks Lars, Rob

And the HIF was fitted to some 140's I believe, but I've never seen that on a car over here, besides Harvey Steele's rally car. R

Hello, greetings from Poland. I started restoring my P1800e and I have an idea to change the fuel injection to be powered by two Weber 45 carburetors set. My mechanic friend advises against it and says that at idle the engine will sound like a tractor but from 2000 Rpm it will be rocket, and basicly that those Webers are a bit to big. What I want with carbs is that beuatyfull sound and historic feel, some decent power around 120 BHP. I am asking for Your advice on this topic, schould I try with these carburetors or maybe use smaller Weber 40, maybe a different brand or stick to injection. Afert seeing Your videos I know that You have massive knowledge about those engines, please give me some thoughts about it. Thanks for any advice. Best regards, Michal

I have 2 SUs H6 (KN needle) in my garage and I´m driving a Amazon B20A (Stromberg). Can I put them on my B20A? I Just would like to have 2 Carbs for better looking - not for more power..

Cams & Carbs don't like mix'n'matching: an A cam with twin carbs results in an engine that won't rev (the A cam), and less torque at the bottom end (twin carbs); equally, a D-cam and single carb results in an engine that won't rev (single carb restricts the redline) and has less torque at the bottom end (the D-cam). So, I would always have to say "no" to twin SU's on the A-cam... Rob

@@amazoncars Hi Rob, the B18D with twin SU-HS6 - from the PV 544 Sport had the same A-cam as the standard B18A - well not completly true, the G-serie Sport ( the so called 1966 model) did get the B-cam.

There's a couple of tricky bits when doing the SU's Randy: 1. Fitting the butterfly shaft bushes is a machine task, but often not necessary 2. Centring the jet, so that the needle doesn't bind on it, preventing the slide from moving Otherwise it's a pleasant task! Rob
