@@Tumbledweeb It seems in the world of TP that either everyone, or everyone who enters the Lodges has a "shadow self" or doppelganger, as Hawk told Cooper once prior to Season 3. Laura is shown in Season 3 to be an essence of pure light and goodness, which is the opposite of BOB, yet she has a doppelganger as well. Take note of how The Arm's doppelganger decides to alert Coop to the presence of Laura's doppelganger at one point. Interesting "motivations" behind these entities. Even despite The Arm's very origin being the literal detached arm from MIKE (who himself apparently used to be evil but became good at some point), he somehow has the ability to have a shadow self. Fascinating stuff.

+Landon Le. It was only "shit" to the people that didn't see the value in it after the murder of Laura Palmer was solved. Sure, it dragged on, but it gradually culminated (the last 6 episodes) into the bizarre, surreal association of fear and psychological fuckery.
@landonle33088 жыл бұрын
adt2695 yeah the second season became a huge embarrassing laughable mess. I know the show was known for its humor too because it balance out the supernatural, but in season 2 they overdid the quirky comedy with annoying subplots like that orphan boy and lana, who wasn't even hot btw. Maybe season 3 will have the perfect balance and EVERYBODY in twin peaks will be effected by the supernatural(aka BOB) not some stupid filler story like the fighting over the mill house or the horne's "environmental" issues.

@ADT26958 жыл бұрын
Landon Le, I didn't really realize you even responded to me, but you evidently stopped completely giving a shit about it after season 2, episode 10 or 11, where Leland Palmer died. That would be well into the second season, so it would be the *second half* of the season where it dragged on that you'd be talking about. Up until at least the last 3 episodes, if not the last 6, at the most. Let me make the obvious known, it's clear they disguised this as a serial drama, screwball and cheesy comedy, with the indentations of strange, surreal and psychologically thrilling. It adeptly provided you with that and never pushed it to the point of redundancy. Maybe it was a little too sparse. Then again, he barely directed the episodes, however he wrote all of them in conjunction with Mark Frost. I could go extremely deep into it because I really care to, but I won't.

I understand the point about plots and keeping up with the story, but I've read some comments saying one of the seasons (can't recall which) was bland and repetitive and should be skipped. Are those people wrong?
@jossym11 ай бұрын
@@alexf9381 That's in reference to the latter part of season 2. Very briefly, what happened was that after the success of S1, Lynch never wanted to reveal who Laura Palmer's killer was as he viewed it as the anchor with which everything else in the show clung to. The network forced his hand so it was revealed in episode 7 of the 2nd season. Some point shortly after that, a fed up David Lynch stepped away and was no longer involved. You can tell by the quality of the writing (was as if those in his place were trying to write in his style - which is impossible). He returned though at the end and made huge rewrites to completed scripts, rescuing the show from finishing poorly (this clip is from the S02 finale). Although I'm biased as a big fan of the show, I rewatched the whole lot a few months back and I thought the 2nd half of S02 was better than I had remembered. This could just be personal preference though and maybe you won't agree. I still believe that to truly appreciate the whole thing, you need to watch it all (in the order I stated in my previous comment). Don't forget - Fire walk with me was universally panned by all the critics when it was released and bombed at the box office. Now it's considered by many as Lynch's finest work (I always thought it was great, but again that could just be because I am a fan). I would advise trying to watch it all, but in terms of quality that part of season 2 where Lynch wasn't involved is the weakest. But if you stick it out, you'll get your rewards with what follows.

Coyotes started howling outside my window at around 0:22. Looks like I’m not sleeping tonight

my mom always talked about this show and how much it terrified her when she was younger. one of the reasons was that a schoolmate of hers developed schizophrenia after getting scared of a scene from the show. apparently, she started screaming and had a full-blown psychotic episode. i always thought maybe this was the scene that scared her...

one of the most incredible episodes of prime time television ever created. when i watched this episode for the first time as a teen i was floored. i was stunned. i sat there gaping in horror and desperation at my tv as the credits rolled and laura palmer stared at me thru the text. i couldnt stop thinking about it and the screams of laura's doppelganger has stayed burned permanently in my mind forever.

listening to the hills and reminded me of Laura's scream

+Steven Hotcakes I could have sworn it was Laura's shriek in there, but apparently it is not. Kind of a bummer, really. But, yeah, The Hills is why I've returned to Twin Peaks too.

Mina Capella a song by a shitty douchebag

@@minacapella8319 It's a song by The Weeknd, which samples a scream from the horror movie *The Hills Have Eyes* (2006 remake). Apparently, it reminds a lot of people of Laura Palmer's scream here!

Dale Cooper acts just like I do in my dreams. No talking, no reaction, just... "....huh. This is happening."

Cooper showed fear for the first time in the series during this scene. In the next one he was bleeding physically.

This is one of the best moments and the scariest moment of Twin Peaks. Cooper's reaction turned to a oh hell naw and gtfo. This is David Lynch at his best.

Between the flashes of Doppelgänger Laura’s screams, is that a reversed image of Wyndham Earle smiling?

First time noticing the Windom Earl face appear during that last scream 1:08 - reminds me of the Jumping Man / Sarah Palmer scene that happens briefly in the Return.

I watched this movie stoned. Me and my boyfriend had smoked a bit and we had just finished watching season 2. This scene... scared the absolute life out of me. I have never had to look away from horror before like I had this. Lynch's use of soundscape as a means to scare you is un-fucking-matched. Twin Peaks and all it's comedy makes you forget David Lynch is a masterclass in horror directing.
