LOVE it. You are immensely creative, Matt & company. Food for thought. And you seem to have built at least part of an actual set and a Jeffries Tube (not a perfect pun, but his "body" is kinda...tube shaped...sorta). I've said it myself, but I will echo the sentiment - you really deserve more subs. But I'm glad you keep doing this, anyway. Know that you have a solid core of fans out here...

The desk and backdrop were made by us (the desk isn't even a real desk, it's just some speakers with things stacked on them), but the wide shots were done on sets at the TV station where I work when no one was using them...I just used green-screen to add myself in, or to put video on the monitors.

I rarely do that, but i just had to leave a comment - this is the best series on Twin Peaks i have ever seen and this channel is exceptional. I appraciate the satire aspect, but what really makes a difference is that creator is not jumping into one pattern or particular theory which he has to chase and proof to us, and to himself, but instead we are receiving very neat analysis based on facts and common sense. Suprisingly, there is still a ton of added value in your videos and it is not like TP fans are just getting purely descriptive content, which can only remind them of how great TP series was. Perfect balance, great work.

One thing I love about your analyses is that you're realistic about the possibility of simple continuity errors, retcons, and out-of-universe motivations like references. So many people completely ignore out-of-universe circumstances and analyze as if all in-universe logic is infallible and deliberate. It's interesting how the results of Lynch's works, the discussions themselves, are part of his artwork. Our collective analysis of this "fragmented dream-like story" is the gift of the artwork, one that heightens our minds to be creative in problem solving and rewarding ourselves with our own interpretations (this video is proof of that.) I think Lynch discovered this early on in abstract art and Hitchcock cinema, he enjoyed the rush of solving the art whether or not there was truly a way to "solve it." As for the answers, just like in a real dream, the answers lay outside of the dream itself (the real world outside the movie/series.) It's sort of like what Cooper says after his first vision of the Black Lodge, the dream is just the clues. I think this video does a great job at studying sources/references and providing context to the clues, but it should not demystify the fact that part of Twin Peaks and all of Lynch's work is what is beyond comprehension. Some questions will forever be unanswered, just like the beauty of life itself. If you formulated "love" does that mean you TRULY understand it? Lynch doesn't want us to think we figured things out so that the series remains mystifying and keeps the beauty of the art intact. I assume Lynch wants the viewers to remain inspired even after outside the experience. Some viewers are frustrated about "getting it" when that was never the point. Lynch assaults our senses and leaves us to interpret how it makes us feel, both him and Frost are secretive about some facts to the series on purpose. You don't look at a Picasso painting and go "I figured it out. Now what's to eat?" The mystery is part of the beauty. I think a good by-product of Lynch's work is that it inspires artists and can make a non-artist witness what it LOOKS like to be creative. That is a beautiful thing.

I actually imagine Lynch himself wouldn't approve of videos like this, as they're explaining the show for other people, and I expect he'd prefer everyone make up his or her own mind. But I've found making an explanatory video is a great way to organize your own thoughts about something.

@@Corn_Pone_Flicks They're tremendous. There are tons of short films by us on this channel, if you go all the way back to the earliest uploads, most of them having been made in the 90s. This film review material is, in the timeline of CPFs existence (which dates back to the late 80s) relatively new. But like I say in our channel trailer, we don't ask for money. I have everything I need to make videos already...people paying for them would just make me feel pressure to make them faster, and I already have a real job to provide that feeling.
@Diagonals_5 жыл бұрын
@@Corn_Pone_Flicks Oh, I've watched everything you have on your channel. I think you do amazing work. As for my comment - I'm sorry if it came across poorly. I was thinking more along the lines of a donation - you're providing amazing content, and my thinking was more about showing appreciation for what you do and a desire to see you keep making short films and analyses, without any expectation that you would be obligated to make them based on that. I know it's not cheap to maintain a setup and I assume you do this as a labor of love. That's all I was saying. In any case, I appreciate what you do. On a personal note, I was recently diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, and found myself revisiting The Return and being quite moved by the plight of Cooper!Dougie, and realized I felt much stronger empathy and emotion towards Dougie's plight of being stuck within his body, unable to get out, which is a feeling I can relate to. Your videos are the best Peaks analysis out there - and I've watched a few dozen of them - and watching these lately has been a welcome distraction from MRIs, neuro appointments, etc. So, thank you, and I hope you will keep it up!
@Corn_Pone_Flicks5 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what you mean by "it's not cheap to maintain a setup." It's really cheap. It's free. I own all my own equipment. My studio is in my own home. None of this costs a lick. I always cringe every time I hear a KZbinr say "This channel wouldn't still be here without your donations." Why the hell not? KZbin is a free platform. Where is that money really going? Most channels I see saying that are generally some guy or gal sitting in front of a webcam. How does that in any way require an influx of cash? Heck, I'm writing part 6 right now, on my job, which means technically they're paying me to do this. Life is good.
@Diagonals_5 жыл бұрын
@@Corn_Pone_Flicks Sorry, I didn't mean to start a whole thing! I'm clearly ignorant - you're right, most KZbin videos are just people in front of their built-in laptop camera. As a musician, it isn't free to maintain a home studio, I guess that would be my only example, though I'm not putting up KZbin videos and trying to make a living off of them. I made an assumption based on the high quality of what you do (and a comment in one of the videos that seemed to suggest you might prefer to be making films for a living) and the obvious amount of time you put into these. I made an assumption that was clearly ignorant in trying to complement you and your videos, which I really do think are extraordinarily well done. That'll teach me to try to stop lurking and open my big mouth! Scratch everything I said and replace it with "I really like what you do and think it's super well done both technically and in your thinking about and deciphering the ideas and mysteries within Twin Peaks in an entertaining manner."
@Corn_Pone_Flicks5 жыл бұрын
Oh, I'd definitely prefer to be making films...the handicap there is that that invariably involves other people. It's something I could do, but the fact that's it's not up to me and me alone is what's hamstringing the whole thing. I'm an editor by trade, so putting a lot of polish into the videos is kind of second nature to me (and in this video, I used some of the sets at my job to create the illusion of being on a talk show).

@@Corn_Pone_Flicks fair enough, but it is evocative & I usually pick up on those weird little tidbits & this one never once occurred to me. Judy Talk is such a funny concept also the humor in this was so well balanced and kept me laughing the whole time. I always look forward to these uploads

There's always a degree of theorizing necessary, but you'll notice how often I say "maybe" or "possibly." Too many Peaks fans are absolutely convinced of their ideas. I'm convinced that Dale Cooper loves coffee; anything else is up for debate.

Your Bowie sounds a bit like David Lynch doing a Bowie impression! I felt asleep and my You Tube was playing this automatically. I had to look it up today. It even got into my dreams!

So nice to slip into a parallel universe where "Twin Peaks" is widely known and popular for all the right reasons--so popular, a talk show focuses on it! Today, you embraced the light!

Im leaving you this comment because of a dream I had. All of my questions were answered. I awoke with a complete sense of peace. Like I had received the secrets to the universe. It was unexplainable. I think my uncle was there... I'm not sure. I love this series of all questions answered on Twin Peaks. Your a true special agent when it comes to putting the pieces together. The editing and creation with the cuts of music added in are top notch! It must've been a blast to recreate scenes with yourself in them.

To some degree, yes. Lynch was known for making up new scenes on the spot based on whatever struck him...the scene where Coop and Harry are trying to adjust the height of the stools in Ronette's hospital room was made up because they were actually having trouble adjusting them for the actors.

Excellent video! Your production quality is top notch. It seems to tie into the whole Laura being the moonchild (or antichrist) idea put forth in “A Skelton Key to Twin Peaks”. As counter-intuitive as the theory is, it seems to clear a lot of things up. Also, thanks for mentioning the part about Judy missing Cooper in New York. I had never made the connection. Genius!
@tickmunchr4 жыл бұрын
I'm re-watching this a year later. You're the only person i've heard suggest that Judy is connected to Laura's own darkness. I can't say that completely jives with me, but i have to admit that my immediate impression when first seeing the jackrabbit/judy shadow symbol (the one on Mr. C's Ace card) was that of a top down view of someone with their arms bent back ... which immediately conjured up Laura and her 'cousin' ... and the ritual bob supposedly used to possess his victims (with arms tied back and gazing into a mirror). I think you've definitely touched on something there.
@Corn_Pone_Flicks4 жыл бұрын
I'm not certain of it myself...it just seems to fit. The appearance of the name "Judy" in Vertigo might just be coincidence, even though it's a film Lynch has riffed on frequently. I find it best never to be too sure of your own conclusions.

I wouldn't even know how to get in touch with Lynch, but I don't know if he'd even approve. He probably prefers people work things out for themselves, which, in fact, is the reason I made these: as a way of working out my ideas.

Oh my god this channel, your content is top tier. Every time I see that sub count I'm shocked. Good job persisting during a time when making it on KZbin with quality material seems impossible, it gives me some hope for the platform.
@Corn_Pone_Flicks5 жыл бұрын
Me, too. Back in January it was about 400 people. Now, by that standard, it's huge. But for me, there is no "making it." I was making videos when no one was watching because I don't know how to stop (and I've actually tried before). This isn't a career. It's just a way of getting thoughts out of my head so my friends don't have to keep hearing them.
@artur198465 жыл бұрын
Sara being Judy's host, Laura being .. ".. like a turkey in a cornfield". OMG, Lynch had devised such a profound and intricate plot that has been keeping fans speculating up to these days! Amazing breakdown! I guess I need to rewatch "Fire, walk with me"

The Hitchcock stuff is interesting - I took the Third Season to show that Judy had been inside of Laura Palmer the whole time and the mother was complacent with the abuse that led to Laura's death.

I thought Judy was either in Sarah or was being the Palmer House, a place of evil.

It's a little hard in that live version to clearly hear the "sitting in a tin can" line, but I kind of figured that if people seriously don't know the lyrics to that song, then screw 'em. They've had plenty of time to learn them if they're old enough to be watching Twin Peaks.

not stupid, these are so amazing and you always connect threads that would never notice. tbh i’ve always thought the original judy talk meant nothing that lynch and frost made into something later. it’s my birthday and this is the best gift lol. please keep these videos coming! 👍🏽 lovely set painting!
@Corn_Pone_Flicks5 жыл бұрын
My wife gets credit for the painting. I can't do that...she knocked that out in an afternoon. Given that it seems as though the original plan was to do multiple Twin Peaks films, I always took that whole Jeffries scene as laying the groundwork for a future story that never happened due to Fire Walk with Me's initially cold reception. The fact that they actually explained Laura's scream at nothing during her talk with James makes me wonder how many ideas for future stories Lynch might have already had, and how much was just new material they found ways to fit into the old.

Wow! I wasn't expecting someone to be talking about the 'Judy was Laura' theory. Which, to be honest is not just a theory but everything in the show points to it and makes it more like a fact. I've never seen anyone else on youtube talking about it and it pissed me off every time my friends were moking me for believing that Judy was inside Laura or was taking the form of Laura because 'no youtuber is claiming these' and ''we have never seen a theory like this before'. Now I can at least show them your video and be like 'Look, another person believes in the obvious', lol :P Amazing video and production. You deserve a lot more subs. More than 90% of these Twin Peaks based channels that have no clue what they are talking about. Most of them are just choosing the parts of the shows and the film that support their theories and leaving important scenes or lines outside. I think you will become one of my favorite channels. I'm sorry for my weird English, not my mother language. Cheers :)
@Corn_Pone_Flicks5 жыл бұрын
Your English is WAY better than many people for whom it IS their native language, so kudos for your skills. I find it funny that your friends base the likelihood of a theory being correct on whether people on KZbin agree with it. There are KZbinrs who think that the Earth is flat, for crying out loud...I wouldn't consider this platform the greatest bastion of wisdom.
@primordial2.075 жыл бұрын
@@Corn_Pone_Flicks I find it funny too. Also, how they think whichever movie won the Oscars or Golden Globes is in fact the best film of the year. Same with video games and the Game Awards. I think, at least here in Greece where I live, most of people in their 30s just jump into trends and hype trains and see KZbin as a modern Library of Alexandria or something. Even when I show them Frost's books or analysing in depth to them for months the various Twin Peaks mysteries, their response is always a salty 'lol dude, no one else believes this. Haven't seen it on KZbin. You don't know what you're talking about and no one else believes the same. Which means you are wrong! '. Apparently if the few Twin Peaks channels don't have the same opinion, it means mine is incorrect. Logic... I think I am stuck with the wrong, for me, group of people. I miss my old cinephile friends, back in the capital where I grew up. Anyway, you guys (in case you are more than one person) make great videos and you have good taste in music too. I'm loving everything I have watched so far. I also think you are very on point in your Twin Peaks overviews and Lost Highway. I'm assuming you have attended a film school or you are very passionate cinema buffs with great talent. If you ever make a film, full lenght or short film, inform us here too, in this platform. I would love to watch something from you. I bet it will be wonderful and strange and twisted and full of love for cinema and art. Btw, the earth IS flat! It's a fact! jk ;)
