Man, this is so miles ahead most pieces of Twin Peaks. It doesn't endlessly interrogate coincidence, it just makes a convincing argument that two pieces of media you're familiar with are worth considering in conjunction - that one's consideration might enhance the other.

I always believed that The Shinning and Twin Peaks are companion pieces. Thank you.

Enjoyed the video. Most analyses of these works completely avoid the spiritual aspect, or only make passing reference to Lynch's Transcendental Meditation.

So much goodness in here. My "Aw damn!" moment came when you pointed out the similarity of the shape of the island in the opening shot of The Shining to a diagonal square or "diamond" shape. I've always found that shot insanely cryptic, but the idea that it goes with a consistent Kubrick visual motif really helps. Thank you!

Nice analysis. From what I have read, one of David Lynch's inspirations is Stanley Kubrick. It's interesting to see the parallels now even though i have watched both media.

What's the music at 4:55 it'sdifferent from night life in twin peaks, but rsembles dark mood woods / the red room more, yet it also sounds off.

Always thought the shining and cuckoo's nest where distant cousins too... indian reservation, mcmurphys interview at the beginning, frozen death face at the end ... and of course scatman crothers

Interesting! And Danny, Wendy and Chief escape at the end. Make sure to check out Rob Ager's latest video about Kubrick & Nicholson if you haven't already.
