Its a Father's dream to pass on his passion and hobbies to his son.. And having a son willing to is even more of a dream. My son, at first, refused to even listen to me talk about cars, then he hit puberty and entered 8th grade and started thinking about girls... And man did that quickly change his perspective on cool cars! lol.. And it was the complete opposite for my daughter. She loved cars when she was a kid, then when she hit puberty and started becoming a woman, she now cant be bothered to talk cars at all! Kids man... lol

Most kids these days don’t want anything to do with their parents when they grow up. My son loves everything I do also. I’m hoping to start racing with him again locally at least.
@JonHop1
@JonHop1 Жыл бұрын
@@mikelliteras397 Big thing for me was keeping my kids off the internet and social media. There is an iron clad rule in my house that there is NO unsupervised internet/social media usage until at least 16.. Im telling you, it pollutes and corrupts these children. Ive seen it first hand. This and I also have a strong community I live in and we all got together to home-school our children. This is so we could monitor their education and also help keep our values and principles instilled in them without teachers trying to brainwash your children. So we encouraged strong work-ethic, responsibility in our kids, and strong faith. Its a winning recipe for us here locally at least! I think it also helps we stay very busy outside of the urban decay and we have purpose each day. We raise our own livestock, source our own water and electricity, grow all of our own crops and are pretty much entirely self-sufficient.

Sometimes it is the other way around. My dad was a mechanic, but spent very little time showing us about cars (to be honest spending time with us in general). Most of what I learned about building engines I learned for myself, by just doing it (came naturally). I had a huge passion for it as a teenager. Then found mates with similar interests and that became our lives for many years. Worked in a high performance workshop for about 5 years where I honed my skills. Now approaching 60, I'm finding it hard to find the motivation to do a service on my car.

Glad to see grandfather, father, son projects. I’m 54, my dad is 74 and my boys are 29 and 26. My dad has three car projects going at any time, my oldest does body and paint and my youngest and I do the welding and fabricating. The coolest part of this video is how your son has built this piece by piece over a long period of time and that Daddy didn’t give him everything just because he’s a name in the industry. Sounds like you’re a great dad. Love watching all of your videos.

Ton of Respect Steve for doing your best to offer so much wisdom on YT to your fans!.. Its not easy doing YT, especially for car channels. The things you and I might think are super cool (like tech vids), dont get as many views, yet for me are so much more valuable, yet YT and ad sense doesnt reward you for it!.. Its almost criminal!.. Keep up the great work and stay motivated!
@DodgyBrothersEngineering
@DodgyBrothersEngineering Жыл бұрын
You would be surprised how often I have heard that same comment. Seems YT is more for entertainment, than learning for most people. I thrive on watching content where I can actually learn something (regardless of how small it may be), but most channels pander to the lowest common denominator and produce content at a basic level where there is nothing for me to learn. When you do find something of interest you are generally inundated by fanbois and people who have never picked up a spanner in their lives telling you that you know nothing. Keep your technical stuff coming there is an audience, it just isn't as big.

He's a very fortunate kid. My dad taught me the basics. Setting points, setting timing changing plugs adjusting valves plus the brakes and other miscellaneous stuff. He never got into performance tuning or racing. At one point however, he did have a Dodge Polara with a 383. It was fun heading to the gas station on Sundays. Half a block away from the house he'd put the pedal to the floor as he explained "you have to blow the carbon out" 😁 Through his teachings and my own curiosity I eventually went on to build two engines for my Chevy stepside when I was in my late twenties. I bought a brand new set of world products heads and spent 80 hours porting them and had the machinist install a larger exhaust valve. That idea came from a book by David Vizard, titled performance with economy or something like that. Without that influence from my father I don't know if automobiles would ever have become an interest. Thank you Dad 👍

He’s just like my son, has to be all cool when it started up, barely got a smile. I built my first engine in my dads apt kitchen and put it in my Mustang with a couple friends, when I was 19. I know I was loud and hi-fiving my friends when we started it for the first time. If dad wasn’t there and no cameras were on, he’d have acted a bit more excited. It’s great that you two are working together. I came down with a bulls*^t muscle disease when my son was 6 and after reading what was in my future, we went racing. Go karts from 7-12 and cars from 13-18 then he went to college. We haven’t done anything since he graduated because I’m in a wheelchair now and pretty useless, but we’re hoping to do some drag racing, even tho they just shut down our local track in Palm Beach Florida.
