It’s shameful that Laurence Robertson MP, is still the representative of the town that has produced such proud and fearless jewels. The MP doesn’t believe in marriage equality, and having African and Gay friends doesn’t exclude you from being prejudiced.

As a lesbian trans woman in Brazil who had an absolutely awful high school experience, as is expected of my particular demographic and of all queer people in some way or another, this is something incredibly special and heartwarming. I wish, from the bottom of my heart, that someday queer folk everywhere will have something like that. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to give a call to some old few friends from high school that helped me to survive that terrible storm. Miss them dearly.

@michelcomenta2 жыл бұрын

Lesbians are women who are attracted to women. Trans women are men who wish they were women. You are not a lesbian, you are a straight man who wishes he was a woman. That being said, I am sorry that you had an awful high school experience. I am glad that you had trustworthy friends in high school.
@sabinasabino1412 жыл бұрын
@@proudatheist2042 There is the transphobia. Aí, gente que bosta. Real não precisava lidar com gente assim hoje. Dude, you don’t know me, you have no idea what I look like or what my life is like, and yet you decided to be shitty to me because I am trans. You decided that you have on good authority what I am and what I am not, and I bet you all my money, it ain’t much, that you have never had a real conversation with a trans person before, and honestly, I’d even doubt that you had a real conversation with any woman before. I am who I am, and it took more blood and sweat and tears to become myself than it’ll ever take you to do anything in your entire life. And I don’t need your damm sympathy for my high school experience, I need your damm sympathy and empathy now, because people like me die because of folks like you, and unless you are willing to see trans people for who they are, you are the problem. The T in LGBTQ+ is important.

back in the late 90s, there was a small group of lgbt sports enthusiasts in singapore called adlus. they were the first openly lgbt sports group that took part in many public sporting activities and they did carry the rainbow flag. some straight alliances joined that group. the public didn't oppose or shamed them for participating. infact, it was all good and everyone in that group didn't have any issue to identify as lgbt. I was very impressed and I joined them in 1998. i'm still in touch with some of them and we have a WhatsApp group chat. They have quite a story that shaped the lgbt community of today.

It's just so amazing to watch this, and see these kids had each other, besides everything. Although I've lived in a +1million city, highschool was lonely. I've never felt prejudice (directly), but did not feel comfortable talking about my sexuality till I was in college, and to my family just after I got back from my Master's, around 26 yo (I'm 36 now). Nowadays I think about how much I lost, time, relations, love, friendships, experiences, how not being able to be myself just hold me back, delayed me in all aspects. Today I'm married, we have been together for almost 9 years, I have a great family, friends and career. I don't feel guilty for not being out before, it wasn't my fault, it's this shameful society we should put the blame on. Cheers to all you LGBTQ+ out there, of any age. It gets better.

Brilliant work done by brilliant people. The perfect example of whanaungatanga. In this tiny town, these beautiful humans found themselves a family connection which in turn they took on as a responsibility to strengthen each other and that sense of belonging. They did so with aroha in their hearts and you can see the greatness that has come from this kinship. Oh, how much good this story can do in the world if it can be shared in its entirety. I hope from the bottom of my heart that no one ever has to feel alone again for being who they want to be.

I am so happy for these people. I wish there would be more widespread acceptance of queer people around the world. I am part of the Queer Community too. Sadly ever since Middle Schoo, my lifel was literal hell in an endless cycle, because I came out. I have autism, I am pan and nonbinary. The small town in northern Germany which I am from, is sadly still very conservative and I have never been accepted by anyone around me. I was really afraid for way over 10 years, but in the past few years, even my small conservative hometown has become more open. There is now even a small LGBTQIA+ Center in a town nearby and for the first time in way over 10 years (I am 23 now), I feel seen and accepted. If you are part of the LGBTQIA+, I want to tell you that things will get better and even if a situation seems hopeless, even after a long dark and sad night, the sun will rise again, because love always prevails in the end. Don't give up. You are valid.

This is why films like this are so important. Being able to find your community is everything! So glad things have got better for you and long may that continue in small towns across the world.
