Nice job of working with the defects in the blackwood. These things take hours and hours of work by hand. The reward is in the final product and getting to work with the finest turning wood in the world, complete with its sweet smell. I'm not a fan of the little decorative holes, though.

It's a nice piece don't get me wrong but instead of just slathering it with epoxy, I wish you would have brought out the natural polish of the African blackwood. You did all that work just to cover it up. African blackwood is some of the world's most beautiful wood, all it needed was a bit of hard wax polish and and a buffing wheel, it would have brought out all the fine detail, the stripes of the wood would have popped. When it comes to beautiful wood like this you kind of want to stay away from epoxy. That's usually reserved for cheaper woods that don't have the durability like these hardwoods do. But still it's a beautiful piece, personally I would have kept more meat on the legs but that's just me.

Appreciate the hard work, and I hate to knock someones piece, but in my opinion it would've looked better with a turned base to match the top and skip the texturing. Such an elegant wood should be smooth. As always thanks for the video John. Still a beautiful piece.

Thank you so much, John, yeah, African black wood is very shiny, and I turned some piece with shiny surface, so I want to try other form, and the most important reason is there are some cracks I cannot fixed, this method can cover some flaws...😅😅😅😅 Thank a lot, again.😀😀😀😀

I worked for years for a stair building company. I'm pretty sure we had a little bit of that in one of our lumber buildings. The boss called it ebony. We weren't allowed to use it though. Also...I was the only girl there for a long time. I loved building stairs.

Very eccentric I love the natural flowing curves, you’re much more then a wood turner, it’s like calling an artist a painter. You seem very well equipped with tools but I have one you need to add to your collection it’s called the “typhoon” it is a burr for carving and is so much faster then carbide or rasps for the straight grinder or dremel, they are made in many sizes and shapes and many shank diameters too.
@gaowoodlab2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much, my friend, yeah, I have some typhoon tips, but their diameters are unsuitable, so I have no used them,🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

@gaowoodlab2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much, Joseph, the wood is expensive, but this piece of wood is offcut, so I can afford the price,😂😂😂. generally, the price, like this piece, is 80-100 USD, if there is no flaw.🙂🙂🙂🙂
