Artificial intelligence designed a pool cue and I built it. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated. I recommend Daisy for carbon fiber shaft tubes: www.carbonfibercue.com/ #pool #woodworking #ai

I’ve been playing pool off and on for the last 30+ years. It’s refreshing to see those different proportions on the butt/grip/forearm lengths. I really like it like that and it especially lends itself well to being wrapless which is all I play with these days. And being an IT professional I absolutely love what this cue represents. Do you have a buyer for it yet. If you don’t I’d be interested. If you do I’m sure they will love it. Thanks for sharing your journey on this one!

Looks great! The accuracy of your projects is always intimidating, even to watch. Your machines interest me as much as the cue does! Also octopuses in your cue 3:26.

The best part is you still added your artistry to the cue itself. Making it more unique! It looks amazing. I'm sure finding a buyer won't be a problem.

Those proportions look way better in my opinion. The 5in butt end always looks empty even on most customs but if they try to fill it with designs then it looks too busy. I think designers (and the commercial producers) should move away from the typical proportions and try more different things.

Very much agree with this. Just received a new cue today and it has a gorgeous leopard wood handle but the bottom is just black to match the upper portion. It's not terrible but I do think it would have looked better with the leopard wood all the way to the base and the black at the top, which I do think, blends better into the carbon fiber shaft than the wood would have.

It is not surprising at all that the AI engines you used had no idea how to design a cue. ChatGPT for instance, is nothing more than a repository of knowledge but it lacks all “wisdom”. Getting design recommendations from it is no different than searching Wikipedia or Reddit. The difference between knowledge and wisdom is best explained as: knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit; wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad. AI is asked for the best fruit salad recipe would not return one that had a tomato because all of its examples (data for tuning) never referenced a tomato. But it would not understand why a tomato should not be in it. So, you can iterate your designs with these tools, but they’ll never have the creativity your humans judgement possesses for aesthetic or elegance. Keep up the wonderful work-

The cue builder used AI to design a cue? Kinda makes me wonder if the cue will be any good, since all the attention to detail wasn't created by the builder. Good craftsmanship begins in the mind.
@robertbyington77153 ай бұрын
WHAT are you talking about the craftsmanship is in the detail; regardless of where the design came from you still have to execute the workmanship that made it happen. Geeze.
@R.L.Thomas3 ай бұрын
Probably because I am not a fan of AI considering A stands for Artificial which ids defined as not real you knw fake? And i knew a couple of cue makers down in Florida back in the 80's and 90's when I was an avid player. They designed by hand and built the same way.@@robertbyington7715

You’re lost bud. You have no idea what you’re talking about. Stop being negative and get your DoorDash dinner order in
@R.L.Thomas3 ай бұрын
@@S.Saylor1014 No I'm not lost, I am one who refuses to be controlled by Artificial, you know FAKE intelligence. If it is your choice to worship AI by all means go right ahead. I have known a couple of cue buildrers in S. FLa when I played, one who is past on, the other is Dennis Searing who hand designs and builds. He has a multi year waiting list for his products. No mass production, quality like the cues made by Balabushka. I don't know what you mean by negative because I expressed my opinion, but your response seems more negative with the door dash crack. i won't attack you in any way because or make any snide remarks towards you because people shouldn't do that.
@markbramer84733 ай бұрын
@R.L.Thomas he didn't put the design completely in AI's hands. He iterated it over a period of weeks, and wasn't satisfied until it gave him something that HE thought was beautiful. He's just using AI as a tool for inspiration, not as his master. If you don't recognize the skill of the various disciplines that he's combined to create this cue, then I question your "I".
