As always, StarKid's references are so deep and rich. The character Sherrezade and this song is clearly a reference to the original Arabic book of tales "A Thousand and One Nights", about a king whose wife Scheherazade tells him a new story every night. (although in the book, it is not due to the romantic love we see here, but because the king wants to execute her before she has the chance to cheat on him, but she stays alive by finishing the story every night on a cliffhanger, so the king has to keep her alive for the next day to hear the rest). The tale of Aladdin is of course one of these stories, which Disney took as inspiration for the movie Aladdin. Very clever references :)

Actually, the king's story is that he had a wife he loved, and she cheated on him so he promised to take every woman in the land and wed her for a day then excute her on the dawn of the next day as a kind of revenge, the rest of the story you have is correct.
