GqueBBQ I like the crown royal injection, but it needed to be mixed with something else, it needed a salt element in the injection to balance the flavors. I may try to mix the Crown Royal Maple with a few other ingredients to see if we can come up with a savory/sweet injection.

What a cool and different idea on the injection of CR. I was always taught to do Beer butt chicken by using a half of a beer but also adding back to that some other flavors (into the beer) like garlic, maybe some hot sauce (maybe in your case some CR (thought it might catch fire), and other spices. But that looks really good and kudos for the inventiveness of the recipe!

very slick operation vid with neutral back ground music, good commentary and easy watch video shots. The delicious poultry goes without saying. Always great to say what you would do different at the end rather than just commend your work. Great to see no negative Thumbs. You deserve it!! ps. I cant get Royal Maple in NZ. Is that a maple syrup? I just imagine a sweet taste to the chicken?
@BadBeastBarbecue
@BadBeastBarbecue 8 жыл бұрын
Crown Royal Maple is a Maple flavored whiskey. Not sure what you would use to substitute it. Maybe whatever flavored liquor that will give you a honey or syrup type flavor. Or you could take a cup of maple syrup and mix it with a half of cup of your favorite whiskey. that should thin it out enough to inject. Let me know how it turns out.

Nice technique, Mr Beast! I agree on the CR Maple, it's maybe OK for a girly eggnog or the like , but don't really care to drink it otherwise. Since I have plenty of unused CRMaple, you've given me some liquor for thought! Also like the way you just used the bottom grate for the cook, I usually split the fire and place the throne on the top grid, as it usually fits under the lid, think I like your way better. I bet that maple booze might even be good on some pork!
@BadBeastBarbecue
@BadBeastBarbecue 8 жыл бұрын
+Randy T. Scarecrow No doubt Randy, I may have to inject some in a pork butt next time and see how it comes out. Using the bottom grate was a last minute idea, I didn't realize the beer can chicken wouldn't fit under the lid until I was ready to cook....LOL Necessity is the mother of ingenuity ...LOL Thanks for watching and the support.

Hey dude, I found out by my mother that if you want the salt flavor in the chicken, you are going have to BRINE it first. To Brine it ( in case someone on here doesn't know ) to soak it in a mixture of salt and sugar water, overnite.... That is the best way to do that.... Look on the Kosher salt box for directions..

Garrett, thanks for watching, I have never used a beer bottle for this type of cook, it has always been either a beer can or a vessel we could pour liquid into that was safe to cook with. I couldn't begin to advice on using a beer bottle, sorry, I did see one webpage where they used a beer bottle, but it looks like they left the labels on.....here is the link: magdascauldron.com/2012/06/chicken-on-a-beer-bottle.html I haven't personally done this yet, but it looks like they are only using the beer bottle as the stand....thanks for watching.

My question, how can the beer turn into steam when the inside of the chicken only gets to 165 deg (at the end). Water boils, and turns to steam at 212 deg? Every time I've tried to make beer can chicken, none of the beer has disappeared........
@BadBeastBarbecue
@BadBeastBarbecue 8 жыл бұрын
I would have to agree with you, When I made this last year I was a hard core believer that the beer would add moisture and steam the chicken, but in preparation of doing another beer can chicken cooking video and doing more research, I now believe that if you want beer can chicken, you would be better off brining the chicken in a beer solution or injecting the chicken with beer, if you want it to add moisture and flavor. I intend to do another video in the next month or so talking about the myths of beer can chicken and how to actually do beer brined chicken, should be a good conversation starter. Hope you check it out, thanks for watching and the comments.
@golfernst

There is an internet site that says making beer can chicken is actually dangerous, because the beer can prevents heat to reach the inside cavity, and it remains uncooked.

It was on the outer. He accidentally injected the chicken at an angle that allowed the liquor run out. Those holes allowed some juice from the chicken to run out while cooking. Otherwise it would form a reservoir and act as a baster. Avoid anything larger than 14 gauge when injecting. This looks amazing,nonetheless.
