WOW! Love this tip. Thank you for posting. I'm knitting a scarf that has fringe on both ends. This will be so much easier than wrapping yarn on a cardboard template for cutting multiple strips then putting several together before folding to loop through the bottom edge. This will avoid the strands from tangling.

love this fun thing to do, you can even go back with another color and make a second round of another length or different length. I actually bought a yarn twister machine to make rope for a project. I think you can make a whole bunch of them in various weights and then twist those together for a handbag handle or shopping bag handle. I crocheted a keychain for my car remote and then chained loops to attach house keys and shopper cards for some stores but this would be a more durable way to do. Pretty exciting possibilities! Thanx so much for your passionate and meticulous channel, you have enriched my crochet life, newbie as it is, so much!

I don't usually put fringes on things because I fiddle with them and end up plaiting them and generally making a mess of them 😂 I have unintentionally used this method many times when I've been twirling the fringes of other things, but never anchored it. The technique you've shown looks good. I can see it being used on the edge of socks (even knit socks) or boot cuffs, or even on a basket. I think it would look nice on a top, especially if there was a dangly bead attached as well.

Thank you so much Tuula. I have been making scarves to sell recently so will start using this fringe for something different. Your tutorials are so easy to follow, so I have need learning a lot from you. But going back to this twisted fringe, I noticed that at both the beginning and at the end, there is a space. Is there something we can do to fill those gaps please.
@TuulaMaaria

You could cut the yarn (if you use the same colour) and feed beads to it, then add a bead to the end of the fringe.
@TuulaMaaria
@TuulaMaaria 10 ай бұрын
True - could feed beads into the yarn before starting and moving them along while working.
@user-bj1dq7zh4o
@user-bj1dq7zh4o 10 ай бұрын
@@TuulaMaaria Wouldn't it be a trouble feeding the beads first? When twisting the fringe only one yarn would penetrate the bead and the other could create an extra boucle. My suggestion is to feed a bead in a measured fringe yarn and twist it with the bead, grab it like you do under the little finger and do the single crochet. The bead might even help straightening the fringe out.
@TuulaMaaria
@TuulaMaaria 10 ай бұрын
@@user-bj1dq7zh4o Yes, could definitely do it that way too. I was thinking of the general way of bead crochet where you feed the beads first. Would probably depend on the type of yarn too.
