I agree. I loved Twisted Metal Black the most. It really upset me that the there weren't more characters to choose from. Having a character with depth attached to a vehicle made the game so easier to get sucked into. I liked this reboot, but not nearly as much as I liked Black.

I hope they make a game where Outlaw finally gets back at Calypso. I feel so sorry for his drivers.i know everyone loves Sweet Tooth, and I respect that, but Outlaw is a good guy car. When can he win?

Excellent review! This game is awesome. For me personally, the singleplayer campaign is what drew me in since I'm not a multiplayer person generally, and I love it. The challenges and the intensity of the CPU opponents is great and draws me in evertime.

Honestly, PS3 Twisted Metal is the best Twisted Metal. I loved it. So much chaos. Especially when playing with 3 buddies on local multiplayer. Oh yes, the chaos o.o Grab a few beers, sit down, let the fist fights start :D

I was surprised with my lack of interest with this game. Reason is iv had a really high interest in the previous twisted metal titles. It just gave me a lack of characters that i use to really love. Online play even uninterested me. I plan on picking it up and wiping off the dust and seeing if i can find myself getting into it again,but still,if they create another,the characters have to stick to their own cars,and they have to have storyline for each,they just gotta.

TM for the PS3 had more potential. Sure they could of kept the challenge levels, or gone with the old school ways. But I was disappointed with just the 3 characters. Was even more disappointed when there wasn't Spectre. I hope if they do another, they give it more characters.... Oh and no more Juggernauts spewing cars.

Good review ! One thing I don't really hear peoples thoughts on though, is the custom soundtrack feature, what do people think about that ? I love it, as much as I play the game, the original soundtrack started to get old and repetitive fast, I can only hear Sammy Hagar's "Heavy Metal" or White Zombies "More Human than Human" so many times before I feel like I'm going insane. The custom soundtrack helps keep things fresh.

the best twisted metal is twisted metal black, it was dark, fun and agressive, in this one you get to know the characters even more and the canping is fun ! and the specials... don't get me started, the specials are so awesome ! (transform into a robot that shoots rockets from everywere... jsut sayin)

I think that in any other situation I'd feel the need to say Nitroglycerine (explosive) should have been substituted for Nitrous Oxide (racing fuel). But since we're talking about Twisted Metal it's appropriate lol

Actually, this is the first brand new Twisted Metal in about 7 years. Twisted Metal: Head On was released in 05 for the PSP then ported to the PS2 in 08. Other than that, another great review Jeremy!

I'm kinda disappointed that there are only 3 players for story mode. I really like seeing the ending for that. But, the multiplayer mode does look good, so there is that.

The Multiplayer is great but come on, Twisted Metal was supreme because of the story and then the multiplayer local with friends(i still love TM3), so much fun and funny to see those drivers get their wish granted, Remember the granny? where she ask for something about watch her tv program in peace and calypso just screwed open her eyes and sit her down and strap her to the chair to watch her tv shows for eternity? Maybe its just me loving its stories. still great MP but lacking such fun story.

Me as a gamer enjoyed this TM,but I was also disappointed because the lack of great single player and story,just like in the past games.I guess they wanted to do something different,but I personally don't care that much for multiplayer.Anyway,my favorite TM was Twisted Metal Black,it was fucking awesome.I played the past TM games as well,but I was more into another car-combat game called Vigilante 8 and vigilante 8 2nd offense.Damn I miss that game.

The closest thing to Death metal on the soundtrack is like, Sepultura. Not death metal. Also, what's the atmosphere/tone of the game? I loved the darker tone they took with Twisted Metal Black.

Actually Jeremy even putting dragula onto Gran Turismo or Forza Motorsport being able to use custom soundtracks and using the dragula track or the matrix soundtrack in general and using that as a cover to play with when you're driving in Forza Motorsport that s*** is legendary you know just saying

@TheEricblank I think for a view to count you have to watch the video until it stops. Whereas most people exit with like 1 second left, so their "view" doesn't count.

@JeremyJahns Also its because the counter gets frozen because the user who uploaded the video has reached its count limit. Each IP address can have about 300 views on a video before it stops counting.

I was really exited for this until i found out their isn't a single player for every character. I LOVED playing and seeing the endings for everyone, that is what kept me from going and playing mario kart. Without that? Nah. I'm sure the multi player is cool but it's just not what I wanted.

@PRocker320 The rest of them weren't like that. Sure, they had multiplayer too, but that wasn't what they were built around. They had a slew of unique characters, each with their own stories and desires. I played Twisted Metal more for the characters and their stories than the multiplayer. Having only 3 playable characters in story was a huge let down, having only 4 characters in total is even more disappointing to me.

@CroRuption I wouldn't deem this game worthy of an entire system purchase... but you'll get a lot of mileage out of your ps3 if you pickup the exclusive gems like the uncharted series, GOW etc.
