I absolutely LOVED Twisted Metal, but it sucked being a fan in the UK, only the original and a renamed sequel only ever came out here. Ended up having to mod my PS1 and import the other titles, inc Rogue Trip, which I consider to be the proper Twisted Metal 3. Also, I loved the whole Americana aspect of the original, would kill for a PS4 remake. But I'd love to see a TM series, I think a series of unconnected mini-stories ALA The Animatrix/Love, Death & Robots would fit the premise perfectly. As for another Twisted Metal game, I think the battle royale genre would fit the genre perfectly.

Idk about all that but I remember all tits and asses in the Injustice games. Particularly the second one. If anything I feel like we see less and less gore in video games. I think the ability for higher graphical fidelity is making gore unpalatable for a lot of devs - it was fine when it was just red polygonal gibs. The last game that wasn't cartoony that had serious gore in it was like, fucking Red Dead Redemption 2 - the quality on the human viscera was higher than on the animal carcasses, like when you skin an animal, the skinned carcass is kinda blurry on purpose but you can literally blow someone's fucking face off with a shotgun - up close - sticking it under their chins - and it's in glorious 1080p.

I think Jaffe is done with game development. He did Twisted Metal and God of War and left his mark on the industry, and if you listen to the developer's commentary on GoW1 he was getting pretty sick of the state of game development even back then. He was complaining about how games took so much longer to make, they cost so much more, more people had to be involved as a necessity, and the game has to sell billions of copies to not be considered a failure and the concept abandoned. I think he misses the old 'garage band' days where a small team with a vision could put out something completely new and different that's admittedly sloppy but has enough heart and charm to win fans. Games now are much more clean and polished and the consumers expect that to their own detriment. The consumers now want graphical perfection and easy to digest mechanics and aren't willing to tolerate obvious rough edges because it's an HD world.

the original is still my fave, it has a grimy grungy mid 90s look and style that is completely gone by TM2. More characters, more weapons, interactive maps, more maps, better graphics, better special effects, better sound, better control, faster speed. All aspects of the gameplay are excellent. Endless summer hours playing TM 2 and then 3&4. Reminiscing in college as I met new friends who had similar memories of TM 2. Getting a chance to see the cutting edge visuals in TM Black. Discovering TM Head On and rediscovering the series all over again. And introducing my future fiancee to the series I'd had with me for so long via TM 2012. I know if there were a TM 2019 I'd probably be happy for some updated mechanics and controls, but for me the old games still hold up so well as trips back to the past. I'm really grateful for this series. =)

And for me, the hatred of 989's TM 3&4 are overblown. Sure, they weren't up to the revolutionary standard of TM2. But a respectable amount of the soul carried on, and at the time I was hungry for more Twisted Metal. Maybe something more like Head On would have extended the popularity of the series better, but I can't say I didn't put many enjoyable hours into what we had. -\(0.0)/-

So, I live near Salt Lake City, it's about 20-30 minutes away depending on traffic and where in the city you want to go. Yeah, Utah can be pretty religious but SLC is just so polar opposite of that. Hmmm, well done. Very cool that you were able to get Jaffe's perspective and get a bunch of stories about the development cycle of the original game. Awesome effort.
