you want to hear something similar? right before the Rowdyruff Boys episode was released i did a 3 male versions of the girls where they ironicly made them as their brothers so they could have partners to fight badguys with bigger numbers, instead of being The Rowdyruff Boys i called them "The Powerbuff Boys" quite lame name i know XDD And i kid you not that they had the exact same design they eventually got when they were revived by Him, they were called Brock, Beck and Butch (yeah as the same name he eventually got XDD) they were made with soda, those pop like things that were like a dust kinda thing, and superhero comics and of course the accidentally mix of chemical X. When they appeared i was like "what the hell?! how?! when?!" and i was like Craig sure must wired the heck out of my house with microphones and micro cameras and saw my boys and made them evil or something XDD, i still have that small comic strip crudely made in mid 2000's with them and i always have it near my desktop as a cool thing to remember that time XDD

If he did it on purpose it would be a reference, and if he did it unintentionally (which I find more likely) it would be coincidence. Irony requires an element that contradicts expectations. Perhaps if Doug had worn a Gorillaz shirt in every episode of the series EXCEPT this one, where such a shirt would actually have fit, that could have been considered ironic, regardless of whether or not it was intentional. But yeah, it's a neat observation regardless!

This episode is both sad & disturbing. The disturbing part is the fact that The Powerpuff Girls are not only Bunny's sisters, they are also her mothers. So that sheds a new light of Bunny's deformity (and it's not because of the combination of the wrong ingredients).😖 Also, the big eyes are actually based off of the art style of Margaret Keane, who Craig McCracken is a fan of (enough to make the PPG's teacher be named after her).

It was nice to see the “Twisted Sister” episode reviewed. The creators really broke fans hearts with that sad/dark ending. Now I think the next Powerpuff Girls episode to be reviewed should be *”Speed Demon” (Season 2 Episode 12).* That has to be the darkest episode in the entire series. Some other suggestions: *Rugrats “The Mysterious Mr. Friend” Season 3 Episode 11.* Stu creates a clown toy that walks & talks called “Mr. Friend.” However, this toy malfunctions (when the adults aren’t around) and it scares the babies. The scariest scene in that episode is when Mr. Friend malfunctions in Tommy’s crib (its head spins like crazy). *Hey Arnold “Haunted Train” (Season 1 Episode 8)* After hearing a story from Grandpa, Arnold, Gerald, & Helga attempt to find the haunted train (also known as Engine 25). *CatDog “New Neighbors” (Season 1 Episode 15)* After reading a Sci-Fi comic, Dog thinks the new neighbors are aliens. He hears weird noises coming from the new neighbors house and even sees green lights shining/flickering from their windows. That’s all I can think of for now. 😅

"You would never see this kind of thing today" That's incredibly sad and very telling of how some people today are too thin-skinned to laugh at misfortune under the false guise of compassion. Even worse when artists and leaders in media kowtow to the vocal niche at the expense of the majority that don't mind the more mean-spirited things.
@Velgar_Grim4 жыл бұрын
And even with Bunny here it's not played as "Haahaa, she's simple. Look how simple she is. Isn't that funny?", it's much more "She's simple and that's why things happen and those are funny." which doesn't sound much more better until you realize that the things that happen to simpletons are things that happen to all people at times. It's just that for a simple person they do happen more often and narratively that's easier to tell than one character suddenly developing clutchioutis or something. Also I dare say and if someone has some proof otherwise, I'd love to see it, but... People like Bunny (minus superpowers, although some people have crazy savant-skills) do exist. It's not mockery of "Hahaa, this is what happens when siblings make bang and every 'not normal' person is like this, haahaa." It's pretty clear in the show that Bunny is very unique person and yes, very special person, and if a kid starts calling neighborhood's bit special uncle Roy (sorry for all Roys who are uncles. Not meaning you... Unless you are a bit special... Then why not) with name Bunny... I'm sure there have been worse things in life. Heck, many things we have going into censorship and getting canceled are mostly mean-spirited in the only way that stereotypes exist because there probably was some reason somewhere where that stereotype first came up. Do they happen nowadays? Probably. Are they good? Perhaps not. Will taking them off from everywhere and being absolutely pissy about them the right way to deal with them? No. Absolutely not. But that's just my 2cents.

I guess some people would call it preventing bullying but what do I know, I'm just an aspie
@Velgar_Grim4 жыл бұрын
@@gothnerd887 I'm afraid those people would still have bullied. Even more so when they would have been confronted by something different for the first time, not having seen or heard anything about different people, since depicting them was a no-no. Let alone having been depicted like Bunny here, as flawed, but ultimately good person whom you are guided to feel sorry for for not having her around anymore. And yes, their parents/teachers could inform them. But that should happen regardless of people with disabilities or flaws being depicted in media and could happen even more with them being depicted. I have no doubt that there has been one or two kids who've asked their parents about Bunny and then it's only question how the parents rise to the challenge. In school, let alone work you seldom see people run to their parental/authority figures to ask how to deal with the different person. They decide that for themselves. And not always in the best way.
@josephceschini50234 жыл бұрын
Just to preface, I LOVE dark comedy. I simply ask, with all due respect, what you mean by "laugh at misfortunes"? If you're talking about having a good chuckle at fiction alone, then I understand. (I also empathize with people who don't want to watch mean-spirited content as well) Fiction is one of the best release-valves we have. I will assume that you're speaking about fiction, considering the circumstances, but would you also say the same things about real life, to real people? If not, then you can stop reading right now because the following only applies if you would answer yes... Unfortunately (and this is something I tried ignoring for years) I often see this same kind of attitude cross over into real life. (correlation, of course. Not causation) When you say that people are too thin-skinned to laugh at misfortune under the false guise of compassion, you are (in my very humble opinion) really telegraphing three things: 1) You think that the choice/natural reaction of NOT laughing at someone's expense somehow makes that person weak, a lesser person. This willfully ignores the myriad of reasons why someone can't/won't laugh at it. 2) You assume that these shows of compassion are always false; as if every person who doesn't prefer schadenfreude is a liar and somehow a 'traitor to comedy' (not your words, but a very popular opinion I've heard elsewhere in many forms). Is it that hard to empathize with people who find discomfort in others' discomfort? 3) You act as if laughing at someone else is this sacred, genius idea that is too holy to be argued against, yet immediately shut down/ actively ignore/insult any kind of reaction from the person on the receiving end other than "Gee, thanks for kicking dirt on me, can I please have another, sir?" To sum this all up; when I hear things like this, I get the distinct feeling that people don't understand the difference between the actual, ugly type of Political Correctness (politicians, corporations and more who are only pretending to care so they don't lose money) versus the individual-level drive to monitor their own behavior & reduce the chances of hurting others. Let's have an example: Person 1 laughs at Person 2 because of some misfortune; another, 3rd person tells person 1 to quit being an asshole and, suddenly, the first person is screaming back to "take your PC bullshit and get out of here". How does Person 3 even think this makes sense? Choosing not to be an asshole is NOT Political Correctness. You know how I can tell? It's easy: think about their motivations. Why does a corporation put on their sad face anytime something bad crops up and pretends to cry? Most likely to protect their profits. THAT is Political Correctness, because their main priority is to navigate the POLITICS of business/government so they won't be fired/bankrupt. They do it so they won't get in trouble politically. A regular person on the other hand, 90% of the time, has no reason to intervene except for simply trying to help someone. Empathy is usually the motivation. They stand nothing to win and possibly a lot to lose; so why would you assume they are somehow deceiving you? I don't know about you, but I don't like making people feel bad. It's as simple as that. And to anyone who argues that this type of humor is only used to try and 'lighten' the situation and 'get people to laugh at themselves'; then you obviously haven't heard/read the posts/comments, etc that I have. I'm tired of ignoring the fact that there are people who purposely sharpen this insult-brand humor into a weapon, and they are disguising themselves among the rest of us who legitimately have the best intentions.

@@Startbreak12 Yes. One of the most notorious and darkest episodes of the Powerpuff girls is "Speed Demon." The girls are going to go on vacation to the Bahamas and innocently race each other home, but in doing so, accidentally end up traveling 50 years into the future. The entire town has become apocalyptic, the Mayor is dead, the Professor is a crazy old man trying to recall his formula for the girls, and the girls have been missing in action all this time. Oh, and Him, who's obviously the Devil himself in this show has taken over. It's traumatic and terrifying, and the only way to fix things is for the girls to race back home and decide to never go on vacation because otherwise, something like that will happen.

I get what you mean, but Doug isn’t really an anime nerd like his brother is, so he went for the clips of Cowboy Bebop because not only is that an era appropriate show, it’s probably one that he knows a lot about. Besides, as nice as it would be, it’s not Doug’s responsibility to give shout-outs to shows he probably doesn’t care about as much. He’s just a guy that happens to like cartoons, he doesn’t have to know all of them or even acknowledge them. This is just for fun.

@@gothicMCRgirl Sure, he doesn't have to, I am not demanding anything of him, all I'm saying is that using a more obscure show costs him almost nothing, yet in the longrun is somewhat better for the community, since a great deal of modern anime fans only watch seasonal mediocrity and are mostly unaware of the Q U A L I T Y previous eras were capable of.

It's not artful, it's just lazy. They should get rid of this "tradition" and stop with the cost-cutting. Also the "dreaded sidemouth" needs to go.

@@SwiftNimblefoot Yeah i'm gonna stop you right there. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with this kind of cost cutting if the final product is still as great as PPG is(And i mean CLASSIC PPG, not whatever passes for PPG these days) Cost-cutting is not inherently bad as long as the final product is still GOOD. It has nothing to do with laziness

I always thought the lesson was about responsibility or something
