Fun Fact: Ernest Scared Stupid, released back in 1991 threw Ernest into a horror setting, parodying fright flicks with the slapstick humor the character was known for. The terrifying trolls used in the film were actually two Killer Klowns masks - re-purposed for the production!

Dave is easily one of the smartest cops in a horror film. Everyone makes jokes about how cops in 80's horror films are stupid and always ignore the teens despite evidence of a killer. Think about it. While Dave was understandably skeptical of the clowns, when Mike said there were dead people he at least decided to check it out. And when Dave saw the clowns were real he actually helped quite a bit. Hell, he actually managed to kill some of the clowns.

I bought a copy of this DVD, just to take to a Christopher Titus comedy show, since I knew he signed autographs for every fan after his shows. I presented it, and he looked up at me, "you fucking asshole" and laughed. His fiance, now wife, instantly was like, "oh, this must be good, what is it?" He was ashamed to tell her it was his first acting gig, but they laughed. I still have the signed DVD.

"What are you gonna do with those pies, boys?" This movie is actually pretty awesome because it never takes itself seriously. It uses every single clown trope it can think of and does it fantastically. Also, the theme song by the Dickies is badass!

Here’s a fun fact about the popcorn gun; it took more money than they thought needed to go into it, actually fired popcorn, AND broke after its first use, they were so worried they’d have to reshoot if it didn’t fire that they honestly I think saw it as a win that it fired at ALL. Every other gun is a repurposed squirt gun they got for a couple bucks

For a movie with this title and camp, the Clow masks are surprisingly well-made, especialy their mechanisms. Whoever decided to add little pistons to pull their cheeks up for a smile deserved a raise.

This film is essentially The Blob with Alien Clowns and I love both of them so much! Originally the "Boss clown" at the climax was going to be stop motion, but one of the Chiodo brothers dressed up in the clownsuit and the scene was shot with a forced perspective.

A Jeep Fact: The Jeep that is covered in and filled with cotton candy webbing was loaned to the production by a local car dealership. They were told by the effects department that if they sprayed the Jeep with Pam, the webbing wouldn't permanently stick and could be wiped right off. However, the solvent in the webbing caused major damage to the inside of the car, particularly to the seats and finish. This necessitated $3,000 in repairs at a different car dealership before the production could return the Jeep to its owner.

My mom rented this when I was like 5 (around '89 then). It scared the living shit out of me. I thought the Secret of NIMH was scary, but then I tried watching this one and I think it actually, legitimately scarred me. I've been avoiding this movie all of my life, and hell, only within the last few years did I realize it was actually meant to be silly. In Doug's defense, he may have been referring to how Donald walked off stage at the end of the debate without shaking hands with any of them or doing any of the decorum that you would expect from politician members. But also in defense of Donald, the media and the moderators absolutely treat him like dog excrement and there's no real need for him to fake smile and pretend to be on good terms with them.

I am one of the few people that I know of that genuinely, sincerely loves clowns. OG or Horror ones. Plus, you ever get curious, find the Documentary on the clown college. It will give you a brand new respect not only for where the profession came from but the physicality these people have to have! It blew me away!
