I found that using a hull with the base cut off will align the slug to the wad perfectly too.

The Steel load is slower and probably going subsonic before it gets to 100 yards. When that happens it will likely destabilize the slug some. The long shot load is probably still supersonic. I load 7/8 oz Lee slugs at about 1250 FPS and they shoot good to about 75 yards but accuracy is bad at 100.

Three of the Steel loads at 100 looked like they weren't stabilized and went thru sideways. Love your content.

Great job Leon, don’t worry we won’t snitch!! If we did it would travel the wire and cause all of us problems. Every woman would hear quickly!!

Great Video Leon. .Love the pics I've seen on Cast Boolits of how those slugs literally destroy Pigs. Keep up the good work Randy

Excellent video. You put a lot more effort into your videos than I do. I like the combination of x12x and FS12 for this. I'll have to try it when my Steel comes in. I've been a heavy Longshot user since I started because that was what I had on hand.

Thanks for this information!! Can you do a video in how you powder coat your slugs please? Thank you !

I do not have slugs but I do have general process covered for powder coat with buckshot on channel. The process is kind of universal, you need static.

Longer distance to stabilize the slugs at 100yds

Hello, Even if the point is moot as I cannot import anything from Russia to Europe these days, I would like to ask you as you hunt with them : I've seen videos of the AS Twister 6-segment slugs where we can see it burst into the gel block ; Do the ones with 3, 4 and 5 segment just flower out and keep their original mass ? How would you rank the Svarog Zveroboy (4-segment) vs the Svarog Botfly (3-segment) vs the AS Twister (any # of segments) for hunting hog and deer ? Did you find any real difference accuracy-wise at 50 to 100 yds ? Did any of the 3 get your favor for any reason ? Thank you
@buckandslugreloaders90052 жыл бұрын
Hi Simon! Thanks for checking in. To answer your question, it depends on a couple factors: 1. How hard or soft is you alloy? 2. How fast are you pushing these? I posted a video of a hunt my son was on a couple years ago using the Botfly. That was made using soft lead traveling around 1300 fps. The recovered slug mushroomed beautifully, expanding to 1.26” at the widest. The deer my son shot with the 6 petal twister was moving a lot faster. That caused the buckshot-like effect upon the slug hitting.
@buckandslugreloaders90052 жыл бұрын
Accuracy wise, I really can’t tell the difference. All of them are similar in design.
@simonmagnum78212 жыл бұрын
@@buckandslugreloaders9005 Thank you for your answers ! 1. I use pure lead, so quite soft i would say. 2. I broke my chronograph a few years ago so I can't measure velocity, but I use French Vectan A1 powder and loaded 1,60 grams for 32 grams of lead, and kept the same load for slugs. So I would guesstimate 1200-1300 FPS maybe. I know this all lacks précision but I have to invest in a new chronograph.

I didn’t see you put the fiber wad in, did you not put one in?
@buckandslugreloaders9005 Жыл бұрын
What’s up Vincent? I did not us a fiber wad. You can if you wish depending on how high you want your slug column. These shot pretty good in 2.75” hulls but if I were using a 3” hull, I’ll add a fiber wad to adjust my slug column.
